Bogans can defend 1/2 that list reasonably well in this system. Brewer can defend everyone on that list with some more than others, but Butler can't defend anyone at this point in his career.
He'll put out a 100% effort after he gets picked up initially, then he'll be a benchwarmer for the rest of the season because he simply not motivated to play enough D to offset any scoring benefit he can add.
It's better than nothing and the Bulls need to fill the last roster spot anyway. Although not aways the case, but many players seem to play better when they join a new team during the season. If things don't work out that good, at least it gives another solid option size wise at the gaurd spot and he is a career 36% three point shooter which is not that bad.
I actually wrote a reply to this but it didn't go through.
But as far as this signing I do like it. he's not gonna start so I like him off the bench as the third swingman. He's a shooter and we need more of those. We got KK and Watson as our only pure shooters and even though Deng/Rose are improving they aren't the type of guys that come off screens and shoot so I'm all for it.
Not a horrible idea. The cost is going to be really minimal. He's a good shooter which we can use some more of. Not a bad guy so we don't have to worry about him causing problems in the locker room at this point of the season.
One of the reasons why Thibs liked Brewer off the bench was for his energy so maybe if Butler comes in and plays well he can be the scorer/spark off the bench and Brewer can start. Maybe just maybe.
I really wanted the Bulls to sign him last summer but after watching him ride the bench with the lowly Clippers for extended period of time, I now have some doubts about his negative attributes esp after Eric Gordon got injured and VDN opted to use Foye instead.
The bottom line for me is its all upto Thibs. If Thibs really wanted a player who is currently available, then by all means, sign him. If not, whats the point?
Well Foye is a talented player. A high draft pick that has just been unlucky. Drafted by Minny, traded to rhe Wiz, then they land Wall and Hinrich and ship him out. He's a nice sub for Gordon. He's a good shooter and slasher, just doesn't havr the size to be a real two guard nor the handles to be an effective PG.
But we are talkin bout Del Negro here. We saw how he utilized his players, the rotations, how the players didn't alwayd have his back. Maybe a change of scenery will benefit Rasual....This could finally be the move we need to get Brewer in the starting lineup with KK and Butler as the backup swingmen.
