They actually probably used the collective bargaining agreement to their advantage. There's so few 20/10 guys in the league that his agent would've probably put some crazy demand out there like 14-15mill/year. So they might be banking on the fact that he'd rather snatch up 11M than to risk the uncertainty of the market come this summer.

I don't like commiting for 6 years at all. Too many of these "talents" have not worked out.

If they can sign this guy for anything under a max contract, it's a bargain imo. Go look around at some of the other salaries in the league if you have a problem with 6 years/$70million

Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star Kevin Love can look forward to a contract extension offer of six years in the $70 million range once a new NBA labor deal is reached, a little birdie says.

Isn't waiting for the new labor deal to be reached the same as waiting for after the summer?

Good deal for the T-wolves. Love is a great player, how many players put up 21/16? Don't give me that overrated crap since his the wolves are terrible and have no players outside of Love/Beasley(who is cancer)

I would much, much rather have Andre Iguodala than Kevin Love.

You have to look past the stats and use the eyeball test.

Otherwise how do the Wolves improve and get out of living in the top of the lottery all the time? Keep drafting and hope they find a Lebron? KG? Good luck.

Minnesota has made some dumb decisions, questionable moves. This isnt one of them.

This. You make sense.

Yeah, I figured a deal was already being made. I never read anything Jeff posts really.

Now that I have fully read the OP I don't see anything that's even news.

This can't be right. I'm pretty sure the MAX extension in years for a rookie salary is 5 years (with Player options).

I agree. You have to start locking down the talent you actually have if you want to attract more talent and eventually start winning. People can call it stat padding all they want, but that's damn good stat padding. Getting to lkeep someone that consistent for only 12 million would be a damn good deal for a team like the Twolves. Not like if they let him go they will be able to attract top notch superstars even offering the max.

It's better to lock him up than to see him leave.
