So.... the result of the Bosh sign and trade is....
James Johnson.

Trade exception goes unused. And the two picks we got for him, one was used on James Johnson and the other one was our own #1 that we gave them initially in the Marion deal (that we never should've given to them in the first place). So basically all we got in exchange for Bosh was a shitty team and a high draft pick. And while it's great for us to get that draft pick, it kind of irks me the fact that it was our draft pick to begin with and it never should've been given away in the first place.

I LOVE the way BC talks. Guy should run for some sort of political office or something. Translation of that crap:
"We're not using the trade exception because we're clearly tanking and i'm in a contract year so they'd have my ass if I took on another Turkoglu type of contract right now."

Haha, thats pretty much true... though I must admit I'm kind of surprised that Colangelo didn't go out and use up that TPE just to look busy.
Hanging onto it, letting it expire, tanking the year and keeping cap flexibility going into a new CBA is the much better move.
Re: So.... the result of the Bosh sign and trade is....
I don't even think it was so much a smart strategical move as it was that he just backed himself into a corner and really made the only logical move there was to make -- no move. He picks up another impact guy at 10+ mill and we tie up more cap space + lose draft positioning. And then he would have less leverage on his "developing our young core" mumbo jumbo and management would probably say enough is enough.

A Toronto Star article said that trade exceptions are in an abundance in the league right now with 10 teams currently possessing them. Also, there is not much talent out there that would even make it worth it to absorb the extra salary, so as of now it wouldn't really make sense to use it, even in the summer. Unless we were to get a very high impact player in the draft as well as making some other big trades (namely, Bargnani and Calderon). But I guess well have to wait and see.

Considering that Stojakovic's big expiring contract was worth exactly nothing when the Raptors tried to move it, I doubt the trade exception has much value at all.
