2 Years from now will anyone be able to stop The Thunder?
It's safe to say that two years from now the Lakers and Spurs will be in serious decline. It looks like the Thunder are going to run away with the Western conference in 2013.

Knicks so won't ever sniff the finals unless they get a new coach and play D. Bulls and heat will be the main title favourites the next few years in the east

D'Antoni's contract expires after the next season.

Anybody can stop the Thunder. Anybody can stop Durant.

why is it safe to say?
why would two teams that have proven to be dedicated to winning throughout their histories suddenly throw in the towel and decide to stop fielding winning teams? the lakers have 16 titles throughout their history? the spurs have been on top for over a decade yet now they are going to sit back and rest on the laurels?
here's what is safe to say, the lakers and spurs will do whatever it takes to keep putting a winning product on the floor, hopefully for okc fans the thunder can manage keep up...

I agree the older teams of the west will decline and probably be in rebuilding for a few years. I do think the Bulls, HEAT and Knicks though are still young to where in 2 years all 3 of those teams will be the title favorites. So the power balance will be definitely held by the Eastern conference like it was in the Bulls/Celtics/Pistons era.
I think the Thunder do have something to worry about though. The Clippers and the Wolves have enough young talent to where if their players keep developing and they can re sign key players and draft well... are going to be serious players in the Western conference in 2-3 seasons. I've said it before in my comparison thread. The Clippers are even younger, deeper and more versatile than the Thunder when 100 percent healthy. The Wolves are going to get a nice lotto pick this year to add to Beasley and Love. Then they have up and coming player Wesley Johnson who I actually think is going to be an All star some day.
So the Thunder should absolutely be the favorite in 2 years to come out of the West... BUT they will not go unchallenged. I personally have the Clippers coming out of the West in about 4 or 5 seasons assuming they can stay healthy and keep all their key players. I look forward to the future. So Thunder may have the West for 2 seasons before that.

You can't argue that neither team will eventually have a downfall for a few years. LA had some a few years back with Kobe, then they got Gasol. Once Kobe slows down even more, they are definitely going to have to rebuild which could take a few seasons.
Same thing with the Spurs, Tim will be done either this off season or the next and Manu is getting up there in age as well.
