Default MAR 10th Denver Nuggets (37-27) @ Phoenix Suns (33-29) OGT

Two of the many teams battling for the lower seeds in the west
battle it out in Phoenix!

PHX NOTES:

* The Suns have won 18 of their last 26 games overall (since Jan. 12).
* The Suns are 6-2 (.750) since the All-Star break.
* The Suns have won EIGHT of their last 12 games against teams with winning records, their best such stretch of the season. It includes wins over Portland, New York, Boston, New Orleans, Utah (twice), Houston and Atlanta.
* Phoenix finished the month of February with a 9-3 record. The Dallas Mavericks (11-1) are the only NBA team that had a better Feb. mark.
* Phoenix has won SIX of its last EIGHT road games.
* The Suns have won 41 of their last 46 games when holding their opponent under 100 points.

DEN NOTES:

* The Nuggets are averaging an NBA-best 107.3 points
* The Nuggets are now 76-5 (.938) since the 1997-98 season
when scoring 120+ in the regular season.
* The Nuggets have actually held four of their last eight opponents to 90 or fewer points, after doing so only six times in the first 56 games of the season.
* The Nuggets are now 20-1 on the year when outrebounding and outshooting the opposition in the same game.
* The Nuggets are now 14-6 on the year when shooting .500+
* With the Lakersí four-game losing streak earlier this season,
Denver is now the only team in the NBA to have not suffered a losing streak of 4+ games since the 2006-07 season.

When the Suns (33-29) left Denver on Jan. 11 after a 132-98 loss - their worst since falling 110-72 at New Jersey on March 27, 2006 - they were 11th in the Western Conference and six games below .500.

Phoenix has gone 18-8 since that defeat to move up to ninth.

Playing for the first time since losing Channing Frye to a dislocated right shoulder, the Suns scored at least 100 points for a season-best 11th consecutive game and beat Houston 113-110 on Tuesday night.

Another high-scoring affair could be in store against the Nuggets, as Phoenix has averaged 117.0 points during a 12-game home winning streak in the series.

Denver (37-27) hasn't won in Phoenix since a 111-96 victory April 7, 2004. Plus, the Nuggets only have one road win over a team with a winning record since the start of December, and they've dropped seven of 10 away from home overall.

The latest of those losses came Saturday night, 100-94 to the Los Angeles Clippers, though it was just Denver's second defeat in seven games since sending Carmelo Anthony to New York.

The Nuggets are averaging an NBA-best 107.3 points, but their recent success can be attributed to an impressive effort on the defensive end. They're allowing 94.3 points per game since the trade - 9.7 below than their season mark.

I'm going to watch the Lakers demolish the Heat at the bar and then take the lightrail over to US Airways center for this one.

The Suns are playing really well but every game right now feels like a must-win, given how the Nuggets, Grizz and Blazers have been doing. And then, New Orleans beats Dallas without Paul! Still, I believe the Suns will grab a playoff spot if they keep playing the way they are...only a game behind Memphis after their loss to NY.

It will be interesting to see how Hakim Warrick does in his 2nd start. Frye was playing outstanding basketball when he got hurt but if Warrick's first game is any indication, he could definitely compete for the starting spot once Frye returns.

I haven't seen Denver since they made the trade but I know they've been winning games. I expect a great game with both teams understanding how important every game is at this point.

This game should be exciting as hell. The Suns have always had the Nugget's number over the past couple years, but things are different now and both teams have changed a lot.

Should be a good game, can't wait to see how this one plays out.
