Isn't the PS3 still one of the best players out there? That's what I use.

blu-ray prices are decent
just like any type of media you buy, you just got to keep an eye out for deals.
when im walking out of wal-mart/bestbuy/etc.. i always have a gander in their bargain bins, blu-ray movies for 5-10 dollars.
last week i got training day for $4.99, pans labryinth $7.99 and equilibrium for 7 bucks

That's been that cheap for so long, It's weird. Such a great movie, too. You'd think it would be more expensive, but maybe not? Is it slept on or something?

If you can't notice the quality difference between 480 and 720p; well I don't know what to say.

No it doesn't. And you said do you notice the blu ray vs dvd difference. I said you should notice a 50% increase in resolution.

They're deservedly more expensive than DVD's because of the much higher quality: audio, video and overall package including case, slips covers, and extras.

Just look up one of your favorite movies on BD, chances are it includes everything involved with the movie.

Your choice of extended/director/theatrical/alternate cuts
multiple choices for audio, with director/actor/other major players commentary
behind the scenes documentaries, interviews with people involved
all the trailers
etc
etc

look up the shining BD, check out all the awesome shit you get with it

you can't get with DVD's. it would have to be a multiple disc set

20 bucks is a sell.

too many people are too comfortable with getting this stuff illegally for free doe.

something like 70 percent of americans think piracy is acceptable.

I don't care either way. I like to buy them now because I like them being displayed. I get to watch all the extras on my big TV. Having them displayed is a great talking point and conversation starter, and you know what? It's fun collecting them.

Waiting for a new BD to be released, reading the reviews, ordering it online, waiting for the package to arrive, opening the package, watching it, then shelving it and displaying it is a very pleasurable experience for me. It's a fun process. It's something to do.

And I've been buying BD's of movies I've never seen. What better way to watch a movie you've never seen than on a big tv in the highest possible quality?
