Default Al Jefferson - Do you consider him to be an elite big?

He does not get enough props around here.

Yes Utah is no longer that good (thats what happens when you don't re-sign guys, trade your best player and lose your coach) but dude has straight up been balling.

30/17 with 6 assists and 2 blocks vs Philly the other night

33/18 the game before that vs Chicago (this was with Noah in the lineup)

He had a shitty game vs the twolves but had 34/8 vs Toronto and 36/12 vs the Knicks.

I could keep going.

His post game is one of the best in the lg.

Correction... his post game is THE best in the league. I don't think he's quite elite.. but he's an all star level big.

It's the craziest thing, how he ends up getting these huge numbers while the team stinks. It's mainly bad luck. He's not a true superstar that can just drag anyone to the playoffs but he's All-Star caliber. Hopefully he doesn't have a Reef-like career.

Not comparing their game, comparing their impact. both capable of averaging 20+ a game, yet they can't win games.

He is a good, underrated big man, but certainly not elite.

It's still different. Although Jefferson isn't a good defender he is a strong rebounder and gives low-post offense. If he was put at PF instead of center he wouldn't be an undersized defender and also wouldn't hurt team D with his inability to protect the basket at the level a center should. Jamison has always been a solid rebounder but not as good as Big Al and a terrible defender no matter where you put him. You really could base a good offense on Jefferson. Jamison doesn't have that kind of offensive game.

You're comparing their games, which I said I was not. How can you state 'It's still different.' then haha..

The analysis is spot on but it was not the point I was trying to make. If you get that, it's not that bad of a comparison.

He is a good bigman, great footwork in the post. He unfortunately has not been able to play for long with other good team mates.

I understand what you're saying, just don't agree. Jamison is a bad defender regardless of position, solid rebounder, and complimentary scorer. Jefferson is a bad defender due to being played out of position, great rebounder, and potential offensive cornerstone. If you put him alongside a center like Perk or Tyson Chandler and your frontcourt is fine defensively. Put another star with them and average other starters/bench, that's a definite playoff team in the EC, possible playoff team in the West. You'd need more talent around Jamison to have yourself a good team.
