Default Re: Al Jefferson - Do you consider him to be an elite big?

Al Jefferson isn't elite, but he's very good.

Defense needs to improve (but then again he is actually a PF and not a center), and I think Al's putting up numbers because there isn't anyone else to really put up those big numbers.

He's a 17-9 guy with another very good/elite player on the team like when we had Deron. In a way he has similarities to Aldridge, no where am I saying that he is as good as Aldridge though.

You have to be a good defender to be an elite player.

I think he's a good guy who plays well..but his career is much like Shareef Abdur-Rahim. Great stats on losing teams.

He's Zach Randolph circa Blazers, Knicks, and Clippers.

Will put up crazy numbers but he can't lead a team for shit, lead them to the lottery maybe.

Everywhere Al has gone, his teams blowed hard. Utah was supposed to be his "look at me" moment until they just imploded.

I like his game, but there is something missing, I can't quite figure out what. His passing out of the post is pretty weak, but I don't mean anything bball wise like shooting or rebounding. He seems to work hard, but there is just somethig that he is missing. Maybe its mental?

forget pick/roll, just dump him the ball everyother time down. Milsap will hit that 15-18 foot jumper as long as Al can pass that far out

'Big' Al reminds me of Shareef Abdul Rahim. Good stats on a poor team. Someone has to score points on these poor teams.

Jamison has always been a solid rebounder but not as good as Big Al and a terrible defender no matter where you put him. You really could base a good offense on Jefferson. Jamison doesn't have that kind of offensive game.

You are wrong, their games and impact are quite similar.

Some characteristics they share:
-Extremely refined scoring
-Creates own shot
-Doesn't do much else
-Low basketball IQ
-Bad defense

So Jefferson is a bit better at rebounding and plays in the low post. Still very similar players in terms of impact.

Default Re: Al Jefferson - Do you consider him to be an elite big?

No, he'll have to prove he can impact a game enough to consistently lead his team to wins. He made the playoffs once, and that was when he was rookie coming off the bench playing 15 mpg. In fact, prior to this year that was the only winning team he's played on and Utah has gone 4-7 since trading Deron.

He's consistently put up numbers, but his teams have been horrible.

2007- 24-58 record
2008- 22-60 record
2009- 24-58 record
2010- 15-67 record

Sorry, but he doesn't have the impact of an elite player. I like watching Al play, but people overrate him as an offensive player because of his skills. He's a 20 ppg scorer on mediocre efficiency for a big man, nothing to go crazy about.

I don't fond stupid posts all that upsetting, I just don't particularly want to have them written in my direction. FYI, The anilities to score in the paint as well as rebound at a high level would be two dimensions, and no, Jamison is neither a low-post scoring big nor a guy that would get played even limited pt at center, while Jefferson has been playing the position hfor large parts of his entire career.

See, this is what we call making an actual point, instead of tossing out a baseless line and following it up with a played out catchphrase that is never used by anyone over the age of 15.
