Default Auto Tune

Can I buy one of these? Can I hook it up into an amp? Cost generally? Is it the samething as a vocoder? Working on a project and would really appreciate any advice! Thanks.

I'm guessing it's either a software program/plugin or a component of an expensive vocal processor to go in an effects rack.

You don't happen to need a personal assistant, do you? You know, for stuff life picking up your weed, pleasing your girl, etc.

I think it is a standard feature in Apple's Garageband.

Can I hook one of these into a PA?

How would I use auto tune in a live setting?

Really appreciate all the info.

Go to google and look up "voice synthesizer." My friend used to have one.. this guy can't sing at all but he made a pretty good rap chorus using autotune. The trick is not to overdo it.

But I don't know much about it. Just that it was called a voice synthesizer..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Auto-Tune

as the wiki says, you can buy it both as a plug in for studio software as well as a standalone rack component for live shows. but the stand alone is going to be expensive.

I lied. Looks like you can get a stand alone VS (not autotune, but same thing) for anywhere from 200-600.

You can also get freeware VS programs.

An Autotune is different from a vocoder. A vocoder is a small microphone that you can use to play around on your voice that plugs into a synthesizer, like a Korg. You can to push the keys in order for it to change your voice.

You can get an autotune foot pedal and plug your microphone directly into that and run it through a PA. Those are a little cheaper - around $200 for a low end. You can get a microphone with pitch correction in it (same as autotune), but those will run you about $500.
