Without Kobe Bryant in the lineup, the Lakers would be beaten by whoever had Kobe Bryant in the lineup.

Well, not the worst team in the history of the NBA I tell you that. Poor Lebron and his scrubs..

Honestly, I can see the Lakers doing just as good right now without Kobe in the lineup.

55 win team able to sweep the NBA Champions in the regular season....getting all the way to the 2nd round and lose in 7 games on a Bad call to the EC Champions.

oh wait...that's the Bull's without Jordan...

Lakers - Kobe = 35 - 40 wins get swept in the first round. (Gasol never won a playoff game before L.A...Odom with Wade barely beat a BDiddy led Hornets team)

Almost as bad as they'd be if they didn't have Gasol in the lineup.

Wait a minute, So of they lose Kobe the Lakers have close to nothing perimeter thread. Whithout Kobe, Gasol Bynum and Odom can't do their thing... If they lose Gasol they still have Odom and Bynum to fill in and start averaging 38 minutes instead of 30 like they do now.

I doubt it... they would just become the old Grizzlies.

Depends... Do the Lakers lose Bryant and suffer the same injuries they've seen this regular season with Bynum, Barnes and Ratliff? If so, I'm not sure about these 50 win predictions...

A younger Gasol led the Grizzlies to 45-50 wins with a worse team and coach. The Lakers last year without Kobe were 6-3.

They probably win about 45-55 wins. I don't think people realize that when a team has a superstar, the supporting cast tends to rely more on the superstar and do not have as much of a sense of urgency because of that superstar. This results in people thinking that these teams, like these Lakers and the 90s Bulls, would be absolutely horrible without their best player. Thats not the case at all. The current Denver Nuggets w/o Melo and the Portland Trailblazers w/ injury riddled Brandon Roy are perfect examples of this. A team of Gasol/Bynum/Odom coached by Phil Jackson is still very good. They're not winning a title, but they're still very good.

And nobody should bother bringing up this year's Cavs. Thats a different situation. Those other teams relied on their superstar because that superstar is that great, not cause they desperately needed to alot. The Cavs relied on Lebron because he was that great, and BECAUSE they desperately needed to alot. Not to mention tha they are alot different then they were last year, even besides Lebron.

Bynum's legs would probably fall off if he averaged that many minutes.
