He's averaging 1.7 bpg over the last 10 games.. and I notice he's contesting way more shots at the rim. Do you guys think he can have an Amare type leap and average 2 bpg in his prime possibly?
Why wouldn't he? Because he's not long? Was Ben Wallace taller or longer than Griffin? Absolutely not. Blocking and defense is reflexes and instinct. I don't see a reason why not if he works at it.
Edit: and wth? your first video is a goaltend...

Defense is about anticipation, of course you can work at it by becoming more experienced. You either have anticipation and the instincts or you don't.

Yea.. I used it show his athleticism while going for a swat. Plus the goaltend wasn't THAT bad. Not like the ball was near the rim or anything.. it was still way up lol.

Ok then the question is does he have some of the proper instincts? I've noticed when he actually contests shots.. he's very effective and either alters or gets the block. Problem is most of the season he wasn't contesting at the rim because of foul trouble.

Everyone already knows he's athletic, and it was a very obvious goaltend lol...it was easily on the way down.

Yeah, that of course plays a huge role. Certain stars tend to be less agressive on D because they don't want to be in foul trouble. Once he learns that he can impact the game on defense just the way he impacts the game offensively he'll be a much more complete player.

You can definitely develop them to a degree. It's not like Griffin is completely devoid of these skills, he just doesn't go up to challenge many shots yet due to either foul trouble or just lack of effort defensively. Doesn't mean he can't.

Ben Wallace is longer than Blake Griffin. Blake Griffin arms are kind of short. Compared to other NBA players at least.
