He will probably just go back and play in Turkey..

Dimemag and NBAdraft.net have him at 6'11". Draftexpress.com has him at 6'10".

Problem is many of the top picks are 4s so we either draft ANOTHER 4 or try to get a 1 or Barnes.

Why didn't Kanter play in Europe this year?

Went to Kentucky but couldn't get in because he took some money from some European company when he was 16.

OK. That he couldn't play in the NCAA was decided a while ago right? Why couldn't he have gone earned some money and kept fresh somewhere after he knew he wouldn't be playing college basketball?

At any rate, standing reach and wingspan are more important measurements for bigs IMO. No point in being 6'11 if you have T-Rex syndrome (Hoffa).

Short arms were the least of Hoffa's problems. If he was more athletic and a little(or alot) less dumb he would have been fine.

At any rate draftexpress has Kanter's wingspan and 7'1".

I would ONLY draft a PF if we could get rid of Bargs before that time...

My draft preference right now is:

1. Irving
2. Barnes
3. Kanter

Valanciunas is intriguing but I know basically nothing about him other than the general stuff. No idea if he projects into a good NBA player.

+1

Not huge on Valenciunas. He`s going to need a lot of work.

I would rather take a gamble on Walker, Knight, Jones etc..

What about Derrick Williams? Do you think he can play the 3?

Having a front line with Williams, Ed and a competent Centre could make for a very good rebounding team.

+0.5

Irving
Barnes
<draft most talented player>
Knight
Walker

Under heading of <draft most talent player> - he is likely a 4/5 (4s from NCAA - the 5's from Euroleague) based on projected scouting rankings. I am thinking that this is the opportunity to flip the pick for Knight or Walker and cash.

We dont need a big man "project" that is 3-4 years from contributing.

We need to add talented position players to jump strongly into the learning curve with Davis/Derozan/Johnson/ and maybe Bayliss. Keep these young guyz happy wanting to stay in Toronto as a core.

As to keeping Jose - yes I am all fine with keeping Jose. it would be great - fine ; so long as he understands his new role is "off the bench" and "mentoring" a new young drafted PG.

Jose still has 3 good years in him in my mind. He can definetely help out many teams....

...But not the Raptors if we are committed to youth and rebuilding ; we need the young team to learn to play together and not have to make up for Jose getting beat off the dribble and drive or pick and role.

I am 100% positive (depending on CAP and lockout) that the Lakers would love Jose to play minutes along side with Hunter. Jose and Gasol have a relationship... Jose would fit well in that team/offense. Even if the Lakers offered a draft pick back its win win both teams.
