Although I do think Evans may...MAY, have given us a couple of more wins, I don't think we'd be playoff bound. PLus him getting injured has helped free up time for Ed Davis which has long term benifits.
If we end up with the 5th pick Barnes wouldn't be bad. I kinda get the feeling he could end up like Rudy Gay; Hot prospect out of high school, some cooling on his potential after college but then playing really well in the NBA.
I would love to get Irving though. We need a marquee PG to build a good team in this era of the NBA. (Some exceptions apply of course)
Sign a free agent C and trade Amir for a backup PG and depth, championship time
The team you post would only be a contender if that guy Barnes becomes a franchise player quickly... but anyway getting a franchise player through draft is the only way for the Raptors to become a contender someday... so I think that roster is the way to go.
I'd say 15% chances of being a contender in two seasons, and 50% of being a playoff team this next season.
Thanks alot Doko, I just broke my nose facepalming from that comment right there.
A borderline NBA player being the reason between the lotter and the 7th seed. Holy Jebus.
Ok i'm glad I wasn't seeing things. The guy actually said that Reggie Evans is the difference between 25th place in the league (13th in the conference), and a 7th seed and a +.500 record. Reggie Evans...... Reggie Evans... I just can't even fathom how someone could say something like that and truly believe it. I think i'm just gonna move on from that one and pretend it was never said.

That would be the stupidest thing a player can do if in fact he wants the NBA to be his means of living. Wait a year when you're a top 5 pick? Stupid. One bad injury in that year, and you're done...
Most players right now say they are staying but once the season is over and they realize they could go top 5 and earn millions, they'll start to change their minds. Next year's draft is even deeper so it's a big risk to stay and potentially have a bad year or get injured. For example, look at Willie Warren. He was project as a top 10 pick at one point but he decided to stay an extra year. He ended up having a really bad season and got picked in the 2nd round.
If he does stay though, it's a huge blow to the talent in an already weak draft, and we should seriously consider trading down depending on which pick we get.
I know right? We always seem to kick it up a notch at the end of the season when the wins don't matter. It seems like a combination of us caring too much and playoff teams not caring enough. Take a team like NJ who is CLEARLY tanking by holding out D-Will and other non-playoff teams who are playing their bench guys intentionally. And then look at us giving big minutes to the guys that give us the greatest shot to win the game and have the least to develop....
I don't really see why New Jersey would be tanking considering they don't even have their own first round pick in this draft. Williams is legitimately injured and missing time because his wrist is in bad shape.
^^ Doesn't really take away from my point that other teams are tanking while we're trying to win out. If we were in tank mode, guys like Barbosa and Evans wouldn't be seeing the light of day right now (and they shouldn't be).

Never said it didn't, but it is still relevant to what you said. New Jersey isn't tanking.
