Default Do we rest our stars or no?

To narrow this down some I am mostly referring to Rose and Deng. Two guys who have played alot of minutes this year and need to be as fresh as possible for the start of the playoffs.

I think that unless we take a decent lead over Boston and Miami and have the #1 seed close to being locked up we won't have the luxury of sitting out either one for the entirety of games. We will need both to play in each and every game left because every game will matter in the seeding.

What we need to do is come out focused and try to get huge leads against inferior opponents right from the start of the game. We have done this recently and it has allowed our guys to get alot of rest. We need that.

We can't afford to have them rest for a few games but I think we can manage playing them less minutes in certain games because every bit of extra rest will help.

We are on a great run and I want us to do the best we can in order to secure the top seed, but we should keep in mind what we need to do in order to be ready for the playoffs because ultimately that's what really counts.

We want to have the top spot but not at the expense of wearing guys out.
We need to find a balance and I think as of late Thibs has done good job of having us blow teams out so our guys can rest.

It's too early to see if they've mastered the concept but they are flirting the the kind of late season control that the great Bulls teams of old had.

Beat weak teams handily and rest your starters so your bench can get in a groove.

Our team is young enough and healthy enough (Besides Noah, Booz, and Taz) to push onward towards that #1 spot and homecourt for the playoffs.

It'll be a big advantage for a team that will be facing competition with way more seasoning and time to gel.

Speaking of which we are gelling and coming together as a team no reason to switch up anything special as we don't want to mess up a good thing.

Let them play ball I say.

Thibs is monitoring their minutes, but we still have to keep that #1 seed, and that will be instrumental to our success in the playoffs this season. If by some miracle we can clinch the 1st seed and a better record than the Lakers, we absolutely give some of these guys a definite breather at the end of the season.

I like that Rose has been able to sit out the entire 4th quarter the last two games. If we have a big enough lead, why not sit Rose on the bench as much as possible? We've got some games coming out that should be pretty lopsided: Minny, Detroit, Toronto. If we can get a good lead in those games, it should allow Rose to rest enough where he's feeling good for the Boston game.

As far as sitting them out for full games, that doesn't seem like Thibs MO. He wants the guys to keep pushing no matter what, and unless they are truly injured, it doesn't make sense to rest them for a full game at the end of the season. You want to keep momentum by playing, not sit out, especially at this point of the season.

Oh yeah, thanks Memphis!
