Default Building teams around Dirk

you got some major problems . . . . great player
but there's a reason it's called power forward

compared to his peers

.

barkley - 25/12 .541 rs - 25/13 .513 ps

malone - 28/10 .516 rs - 27/11 .463 ps

duncan - 22/12 .507 rs - 25/13 .502 ps

garnett - 22/12 .500 rs - 22/12 .474 ps

dirknow - 25/09 .476 rs - 27/11 .459 ps
.

great players inspire their teammates to greater heights
- can't see a deep jumpshooting pf as awe-inspiring

the position calls for a tough physical presence
one that can beast daily

.

barkley - #21 rpg .... #6 orb

duncan - #23 rpg .... #23 orb .... #16 bpg

garnett - #33 rpg ... #30 orb .... #41 bpg

malone - #43 rpg .... #14 orb .... #81 bpg

dirkno - #102 rpg

.

not top 100 in rebounds per game
not top 250 in offensive boards
not on the planet in blocks
kobe's shooting %s

.

from the 4 spot , there's no way you can
build a conventional team around dirk

he need superman as his sidekick

.

dwight , and maybe bynum . . that's it

and both are about to come free

.

do whateva

a jumpshooting PF who doesn't rebound is the most difficult player to build a championship team around. that's a fact dirk lovers all try to ignore

It's so hard to build around him that he's won 50 games for 11 years now, 7 of which his 2nd option is Jason Terry.

Oddly, he's the easiest player to build around and your argument collapses.

At least you can build around Irk. Beasley will forever be supporting cast.

Give Kobe Dirk's teammates and they don't even make the playoffs and Kobe demands a trade

Oddly, you seem to believe having consecutive 50+ win seasons is anything compared to winning a championship.

Homers gona home.

Kobe dragged Luke Walton, Brian Shaw, Smush Parker, Chris Mihm to the playoffs but he can't win with Jason Kidd, Jason Terry, Roddy, Marion, Caron butler etc.

ur lack of bball knowledge is frightening

but the PF's your comparing him too are some of the best PF's to play the game. I'd be hard pressed to find anyone to say Dirk is deserving of being part of that discussion.

That being said, I think you could still build a team around a player who isn't a superstar like that. I would say before the 'Melo trade the Knicks were built around Amar'e, and they're a playoff team. You could say that Houston was built around Yao Ming, and he's not one of the best centers to play the game, and a similar situation with Dwight Howard and the Magic.

Put KG on the Mavericks and Cuban won't have to watch multiple first round failures and a finals choke. In fact I think he'd have a ring by now.

Caron wasnt even on the 2005-2006 roster.

Kobe carried those mutherfuckers to the playoffs and battle with the Suns in a 7 game series

# Became the 3rd player in NBA history to lead the league in Win Shares for at least 3 consecutive seasons (2005-2007). The others are Michael Jordan and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
# Became the 3rd player in NBA history (after Rick Barry and Larry Bird) to average 26-plus points while shooting 90% or better from the line (2005-06)
# Became the 5th player in NBA history to shoot better than 50% from the field (50.2), 40% from three-point range (41.6), and 90% from the line (90.4) (2006-07). The others are Larry Bird, Reggie Miller, Mark Price, Steve Nash, and Jose Calderon. He and Bird are the only two of the six to average more than 20 points per game.
# Only 1 of 5 players in NBA history to average + 25ppg and + 10rpg in the NBA playoffs. The others are Elgin Baylor, Hakeem Olajuwon, Bob Petit and Shaquille O'Neal.
