Default the all-time leading scorer

if lebron maintains the scoring pace he has had since he entered the league, lebron would have passed kareem for the all-time record by the time lebron was 36. for some comparsion, kareem was 42 when he retired.

jordan retired a month before his 36th birthday. lebron, if he were to maintain this same pace would have passed jordan by the time lebron was 32. for comparison, kobe bryant is 32 now.

if lebron continued this pace, and kobe played until he was jordan's age when jordan retired (36), lebron would pass kobe on the scoring list while kobe was still playing, despite kobe having had a 6-year head start.

Since it is becoming increasingly rare for top shelf NBA level talent to play four years of college ball, it seems it will only be a matter of time before someone surpasses Kareem for the all-time scoring mark.

It will help if LBJ can be a part of teams that perrennially go deep into the playoffs.

he already knows when he hits 30 his knees are gonna give out. that was a big reason he did not sign the 6 yr extension with Clev.

Good post. And I have long maintained that had Kareem been able to jump right to the NBA out of HS, that he would have added another 6000-8000 points to his career total.

46,000 points would be tough to catch...

If LeBron keeps his level of play, then sure. But we'll see what happens. He probably won't since it is extremely rare to see a player do that obviously, and who knows if LeBron can keep this pace up.

Are you a dumb @$$? LeBron is not injury prone unlike Tracy Mcgrady. LBJ also has a top notched physical trainers that's why He's still going to be physical fit and in the best shape of his life in his mid 30's. LeBron didn't sign the 6th year extension with the Cavs because they couldn't build a good team around LeBron.

Evidently the Heat organization wasn't notified of Lebron's "bad knees" last summer...nor were the other half dozen teams that were throwing millions at him. NOR were the Cavs, who did everything they could to re-sign him (except bring in winning talent to surround him with.)
