Yeah but he was prepped to fight a completely different fighter. I think he'd have smoked chael but there was no reason for him to take that fight.
This exposed a bigger problem the UFC is facing. The reason the UFC/Mma has gained so much on boxing in the last few years is that their cards aren't nearly as shallow as boxing cards. This helps prevent can backlash when you end up with a flash ko or a bad fight in the main event because the whole card is worthwhile. For the last year or so, Dana has gotten away from that philosophy and gone with one fight cards and this time it bit him in the ass bu he won't man up and admit it was his fault
He should have took that fight hes the champ and the champ is suppose to fight when healthy no matter who.Jones was getting pushed hard by the UFC being in their commercials, getting sponsored from them and also getting HIS title shot on short notice too and shogun didnt refuse.
Its not completely jones fault but for sure he is to blame for not taking the fight.

Where are you getting that the champ is supposed to fight anyone anytime bs?
And it was on 6 weeks notice, not 8 days. Jones agreed to fight anyone on the 22 which is the analogous situation to the rua decision to fight him.

Where are you getting that the champ isnt suppose to welcome all challengers anytime anyday with a 10 week training camp bs?Tito fought vlad on what 6-7 days notice?
Thats cool that he agreed to fight anyone on the 22nd makes since sense he just got a shit storm thrown at him for not fighting on the 1st.

I said he was a good company man because Dana asked him to stop humiliating Jones and he did.
There's no real reason for Sonnen to continue. They're not going to be fighting each other and Sonnen isn't close to a title shot on his own merit, so it's not like they could be fighting soon. It's better for him to focus his energies elsewhere.
It's kind of sad that Sonnen has to play Make Believe Champ on Twitter because he can't earn it in the cage.

Jones was ready to go had a 10 training camp and was healthy.Everyone else had 8 days notice to fight on september 1st.Jon Jones had months to prepare to fight on that day.
The thing is Jones would have practically nothing to gain by fighting Sonnen. It's high risk, practically no reward. Oh, but he could shut Sonnen up! Who gives a flying **** what Chael types on Twitter? It's a shame that some people get so caught up in words. If Chael wants to run his mouth because he can't get it done in the cage, then let him. You shouldn't accept a fight just to shut someone up.

Those situations are nothing alike. It's ridiculous to bring it up like they're similar. Jones was 12-0 (not counting the stupid DQ loss) at LHW. He had a number of solid wins and then choked out Bader, who was 12-0 at the time. He was basically ready for a title shot at that time, but Evans was ahead of him. As for Sonnen, he lost his last fight and at a lower weight, and there's also the thing where he hasn't even fought at LHW for the past 7 years.

He should have accepted the fight.Hes the champ he takes on all challengers plus no more then 2 weeks before the whole thing whent down he was on a radio show saying that he would fight sonnen anytime.
Dont discount the beating Hamill gave Jones's elbows.I had no problem the UFC giving him the title shot against Shogun. The problem i have is that they gave him the title shot, put him in commercials, sponsored him, didnt discipline him for the DUI and he comes out and refuses to fight sept 1st.
