So basically two people from another division (one being Pettis who has already said if he wins that belt, he's gonna go back up to 155 and try to win the LW title too so who knows when he'll want to defend it) have the entire division tied up for well over a year. Leaves the natural FW's trying to figure out when/what fights to take that will leave them available when one of them actually gets a shot.
That's their problem though. If a hugely talented guy can make 145 then he is considered a FW regardless of what he's been fighting at recently. If he can make the weight then what rules is he breaking? It shouldn't be Aldo's call on who is the most "deserving". And even if it was, he'd be wrong because Pettis is more deserving than guys like the Korean Zombie (as huge of a fan of his as I am), Swanson, Lamas or whoever else.
Yeah like I said I definitely wanna see the fight. But I can also see why Aldo and the other FW's would have a problem with it. But like you said it's not Aldo's call. As amazing as he is, I hope he realizes he's not at GSP/Silva status where he can say what fights will and will not happen.
Yeah he praised the hell out of her at the press conference last night and it sounded like she's gonna be getting a pretty damn big paycheck for this PPV
ah, okay... cool, cool.
it's getting to the point where i just assume every other action by dana is going to be the worst, most infantile action possible. but good to know he was a good guy about the deal this time.
Another reason I don't have a problem is because Mendes, Korean Zombie and Lamas are all in the mix at FW, so this will give them time to sort which of those guys gets the next title shot. The Korean Zombie won't be available to fight 'til like July, Mendes has Guida next while Lamas has some mystery opponent in May. I'm guessing the mystery opponent will be Dennis Siver, maybe Nik Lentz or even someone like Frankie Edgar. Everyone else would be too far down the ladder for him to face, but maybe he's looking to face a lower opponent so it's lower risk for him.
Looks like Edgar wants Swanson next or possibly Siver.

Well one of the Primetime specials was making a big deal about the fact that Ronda is driving a BMW and Liz didn't have a table in her apartment or even a couch. At the presser Dana said "well I'll tell you this much, she's definitely gonna be able to have a table and a couch now"
F*cked up thing would be if he literally gave her $800 for a table and a couch
Liz just looked happy as hell this entire week. She was smiling non stop at the weigh in, smiling when she walked out, smiling during the intros, smiling AFTER she lost, smiling at the press conference...she was just legitimately excited to be in the UFC. It was refreshing to see honestly

I agree.. And at least he's not coming off a loss like Edgar, Sonnen were. Also, unlike Belfort (before he faced Jones), he is one of the top contenders in his current weightclass and not moving up a weightclass, but down. No disrespect to Belfort, but a rematch with Anderson wasn't even being talked about when he was matched up with Jones. That fight came out of nowhere.. to me at least. Talks about Pettis getting a titlefight at LW started right after the cowboy fight. Since Benson already has a date with Melendez and Pettis can make FW, this fight makes sense. Pettis is the no. 2 contender at LW in the official UFC rankings and coming off three consecutive wins as well.
They should make that a rule.. Fighters changing weightclass should only get titleshots when (1) they have a win streak going/or are champion (2) if they move up, they should be champion (3) if they move down they should be the no.1 or no.2 contenders in the UFC's rankings. Never gonna happen, but that sounds fair to me.
I'm glad they rank fighters now.
So Aldo has finally agreed to fight Pettis, but now there's a new stipulation: If Aldo wins, he gets to move up and fight Ben Henderson for a chance to be a dual champion.
Quote:
UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo will earn a lightweight title shot with a victory over Anthony Pettis.
Aldo revealed the news Monday night to Brazil-based website Tatame.com.br, and UFC president Dana White confirmed it with ESPN.com.
White said Monday night on Twitter that the fight between Aldo and Pettis is indeed on. The two sides met recently to further discuss the matter and agreed that Aldo would move up to lightweight and challenge for that title should he defeat Pettis.

wow nice, I think if Henderson cant take ALdo down he will get leg kicked to death by Aldo guys just to fast. The size advantage of Benson will be negated by the speed, almost like when Pettis fought Benson.
