i'm still pissed because even though i wanted weidman to win, this fight didn't settle much of anything. for all we know, anderson is still a much better fighter than weidman.

so now, one of the top-two win streaks in MMA history... something very special indeed, is broken for no good reason. and weidman, the new champ... we can't fully appreciate him because of the tainted way in which his opponent fought. the belt itself is tainted right now because of what silva did.

silva also disrespected MMA as a whole. not fighting, because anything in fighting is fair game so to speak. but the whole founding of MMA and the UFC is based on the idea that skill, training and the right plan can beat superior brawn, speed, raw ability.

there's also all the fans who pay a lot of money to see a sincere effort. silva disrespected them and they let him know it before he brought them partway back with his litany of "hespect."

he also disrespected his own health and family, honestly. medical science is clear that knockouts cause a level of permanent brain damage, and multiple heavy blows makes that exponential. no matter who you are, one of your top goals in MMA should always be to protect your head at all times and never, ever offer free shots to the opponent.

people like roy nelson and chris leben are probably going to be drooling wrecks only a few years down the line because of this stuff. their families are going to have to be the ones arranging their care and nursing because these guys wanted to be too macho in a dangerous sport.

sorry for the rant, but i'm still pissed.

i like Silva, but it's good to see him getting what he deserves for disrespecting the competition and the sport. Eyes rolled back, grabbing the ref's pants, he was out!

Weidman did not dominate Anderson, he caught him. AND THAT IS ALL. REMATCH. COWBOYS STADIUM.

Hopefully they'll change up everything and I hope Ronda/Tate 2 will be on the same card also. 12/28/13

If MMA could somehow get legalized in NYC within the next year then this rematch would be the perfect debut show for UFC at MSG. Weidman, the champ from Long Island, vs the GOAT in one of the biggest rematches of all time.

There's a difference between catching someone & totally manhandling a fighter. Anyone can get caught in a fight. Dominating is like GSP -- making everyone his bitch all 5 rounds, or the time when Cain ANNIHILATED JDS.

Looks like something WWF would do. Fully expect Silva to cut a heel promo soon.

I'm not going to say Silva didn't take the fight seriously, but I think it gets to a point where he didn't have anything to accomplish anymore as the champ. He beat everyone in his division pretty much. I think anyone who's been this dominant of a champion has to lose something inside of them that drives them to be the very best fighter that they can be.

It was bound to happen. One guy was just super hungry to eat and the other guy was vomiting from years of overfeasting.

In the post fight scrumm Dana White said he expects Silva to do the rematch. He's not sure of it, but he said he's seen it before. Long time champ goes home and thinks he's done chasing the title. Then after a few weeks he starts thinking about and realizing he's no longer the champ. He said BJ was one example of this. BJ told him he didn't think it was a big deal till awhile after he lost his belt. Then it consumed him. He thinks Silva's going to clear his head then realize he wants his belt back.
