Oooooh, there's a big one. I was thinking they'd do Mir-Werdum but I guess this makes sense since who would Velasquez fight? I'm a Frank Mir fan and glad he's back in the title hunt but really, I'd be shocked if he wins this. I put my money on a Cain TKO.
The question is will Mir's BJJ intimidate Cain in terms of shooting for the take down. In stand up its gong to be interesting, Mir has show huge improvement, and after getting BLASTED by JDS I have a feeling Cain's stand up will be even crisper than it was before. This one is two hard to call, but I bet it gets finished.
Damn, Mir Vs Velasquez is the last thing Frank needs right now..... I mean, It showed you in the past that he had trouble fighting against guys that are wrestlers/ground & pound type of fighter and also rely on their strength.
I mean, Ian Freeman beat the crap out of him, the match stopped cuz he could barely stand... And For Carwin, Lesnar, Vera & Cruz they ALL GROUND & POUNDED HIM.......
But for Vera & Carwin not so much Vera knee'd him and Shane caught him with an uppercut..
I mean, Mir's weaknesses are fighters that wants the fight to go to the ground.. I mean really, just look at his losses back then..
I know that Frank is smart and he said that he learned from his mistakes from the past, he said that Ground & Pound is a thing that he doesn't enjoy anymore... so we'll see, and I hope that his ego wont get the best of him..
UFC co-owner Lorenzo Fertitta broke the news early Friday morning via his personal Twitter account.
Heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos will likely attempt his first title defense against Alistair Overeem on May 26 in Las Vegas.
In addition, Fertitta confirmed the UFC is working to pair former heavyweight champions Frank Mir and Cain Velasquez on an undisclosed date, and light heavyweights Forrest Griffin and Tito Ortiz are expected to meet a third time.
According to UFC officials, none of the bouts has been formally signed.
Reem/JDS date depends on how Alistair's court case goes
Weak fight for Hendricks. After beating Fitch, he should be getting something better than Kos. This only makes sense if Condit is 100% for sure waiting for GSP and not taking another fight.
i think condit is gonna wait for gsp
so no condit, gsp. no point in fighting fitch again. only really leaves koscheck. although i thought maybe kos or hendricks would fight ellenberger if he beats sanchez. but im guessing kos/hendricks made most sense to both fighters and the ufc.
i suppose fitch will get the the winner of sanchez/ellenberger?
