First of all.. they had reasons for Couture & he was also fighting for Vacant's.

And Frankie Edgar? He was the former champ, it was enough excuse for them to give Frankie a rematch, cuz some could say it was a close fight, which it really wasn't.. but they could/would exaggerate and milk that anyways..

I thought they went too far with Brock.. when they gave him a title shot when he was 1-1 in the UFC and fought Randy.
But i'm not bitchin about that.. why are you bringin those shit up? (FYI, Brock was already a champion before he fought Mir for the 2nd time).

I'm bitching about Dana giving Chael a title shot, when he knows that Chael JUST LOST TO ANDERSON SILVA. When you lose to someone in a title fight, you gotta go back to the end of the line or at least face another top contender for you to have a title shot again, like Cain Velasquez.

I see it like this... If no one knows you and you've been winning so far and the UFC gives you a title shot, then you lose? You're gonna go back to the Prelims lol.

But If you're well known, you gotta win a couple 1-3 fights consecutively, maybe? Then you'll have your title shot.

But if you're a SUPERSTAR.. just win 1 or 2 fights consecutively, and you'll get your title shot.

Anyways, I just couldn't believe that they even considered Chael F*cking Sonnen.

Well it did, but they had reasons... But just putting Chael in front because it draws more money? I disagree with that.. It's So Unprofessional...
B!TCH!! KEEP DIGGING IN THE 205 Division and give those bitches a title shot!
It would have been better if the stakes were higher, say If Chael loses.. He'll retire?

Anyways, I'm just glad Jones rejected it. I don't mind Machida fighting another top contender. Is Rashad fighting anyone?

This guy's opinion is beyond biased..

It's been reported numerous times that Chael enjoys snapping into a slim jim before & after every fight.

Which is a shame. He was considered one of the best p4p in the world at one point.

As for Jon jones, that was a b!tch move by him and his camp.

And he was juicing in the first fight do I give him no credit for it. So basically your argument comes down to the fact that he was able to take Andy down and hold him down in the first round of their second fight but he still couldn't do any damage.

chael took a while to win me over, but at this point he's one of the greatest things about MMA to me. nobody can single-handedly promote the way he can, nobody is so consistently hilarious, few famous people are as gracious as he is in RL and being the #2 fighter in a popular and competitive weight class makes it all the more impressive.

like it or not, MMA needs feuds as in pro wrestling in order to connect with fans and make the business grow, and this guy is perfect for all that. i love how he had the cajones to volunteer to get demolished by jones, and later tweeted that "i'm the new LHW belt-holder since jones ducked me." absolutely perfect.

To be clear, no one actually thinks jones ducked chael right? Jones last 4 fights had been shogun, machida, rampage and rashad. Add Henderson who he signed to fight and that's the next 5 best lhws in the world in about 18 months. If anyone has earned the right to be free from ducking allegations it's him.

Btw does the fact that the Henderson injury occurred three weeks ago(right around the time chael started shit talking jbj) change anyones opinion. There is no chance chael didn't know about it. They set this up and I guarantee you that he's been training for it. At this point the blame goes Dana, Henderson, chael, jbj in that order.

i would have to throw myself in the same boat as ~50% of MMA fans and seemingly 75% of MMA fighters in saying that yes, i absolutely think that jones ducked chael. but like the case you've made across many posts i also agree with you that yes, in a perfect world, jones had every right to turn down the fight with zero repercussions.

in a perfect world, jones' decision was not connected in any way to the rest of the card, the huge amounts of time and money that his fellow fighters spent training, dana white's asshole dictator routine, the wants of the fans or anything else.

but the bottom line for me is this: the dude single-handedly had a chance to do everyone a favor, stand by his previous words, and destroy MMA's biggest loudmouth while looking like the golden boy. all this would have greatly helped to wash the taste out of many of our mouths regarding his previous actions and poorly-chosen words the last few months or so.

anyway, he's a big boy. he's made his choice and now he has to live with it. he's reaping what he sowed. whether he learns anything from the experience, we'll see. he probably needs a humbling or an ass-kicking in order for me to go back to being a supporter. i expect, when he goes HW in a year or to.
