So now you get suspended for escalating, but not starting?

NBA, where inconsistency continues to happen.

They make up rules as they go. Stu Jackson hates the Lakers. Tyrants

I'm not mad about Barnes getting suspended but this move kind of seem like Terry was in the right for what he did etc. WTF? The dude started it and all Barnes did was back up his teammate like you should do.
Not only that Terry gets downgraded?

Complete and utter bullsh*t.

Man, the downgrading was dumb as rocks.

That push was as obvious and intentional as you can get.

"b. If contact committed against a player, with or without the ball, is interpret-ed to be unnecessary and excessive, a flagrant foul--penalty (2) will be assessed. "

So it was unnecessary, but it wasnt excessive. Really now? That was not excessive at all?

So if any other team started, they don't get suspended. If Lakers started, they get suspended or banned. What is NBA message here? Ok to start a fight? Ok to shove someone on midair? Don't care if they land bad or hurt bad? What is the NBA message?

Man, this league is pussified. Just let the game be and move on. No one should be suspended. Haywood and Blake should never have been ejected.

Maybe if the Dallas assistant coach would have not tried to put Barnes in an extended bear hug his ass would not have been pushed off.

Barnes deserved to be ejected for pushing Terry, just as Terry deserved it for pushing Blake....but a suspension? Lame.
I agree.

Wow. The NBA truly is stupid. All Barnes did was push Terry. If anyone should be blamed for the fight, it was Terry, who instigated the entire situation by pushing Blake to the ground. Either way, it doesn't deserve a suspension. Great job, Stern.

That wack assitant coach is a pretty weak specimen for falling all over the place when Barnes' shove didn't even look all that forceful

Dude flopped Ginobili style circa 2005

I, for one, was pleased to see the tenacity from LAL. They showed up as a unit last night, in between the whistles and after. That spirit is a great sign for a team that is used to winning playoff basketball, has great talent and unique players in the front court.

If Phil goes out with a FOURTH 3 peat... my gawd. Unreal

P.S. JJ Barea is a little $hithead too

The difference is Terry's foul was an in game basketball foul. Barnes foul was not a basketball foul, the whistle had been blown there was no game action taking place it had nothing to do with the actual game other than it happened on a basketball court.

Terry actually deserved a suspension more than Barnes. Terry started the whole thing to begin with.

Barnes, suspended by throwing a stupid assistant coach = @ at the stupid assistant coach
Terry, got a flagrant 2 but not suspended =

That is all.

You realize Terry pushed Blake after the play, right?

Personally I thought it should've been ejections to JT and Barnes and throw out some fines or whatever and let it go.

How the hell do they rescind Terry's foul? His shove after the foul was clearly intentional.
Terry deserves to be suspended more than Barnes. He started the whole fight.

Anyone notice that the everyone on the Laker Bench has managed to stay calm, but the Mavs bench was just dragging themselves into this?
