Default Median house price in America vs Australia

America it's 188,900 US dollars or 260,000 aussie dollars.

Australia it's currently about 660,000 Aussie dollars

To be fair, our capital cities command too much.

I'm not suggesting that America is the same as Australia, but why such a large difference?

I f.ucking loathe our house prices. So damn expensive.

Well first of all, your average wage is a lot higher because of taxation. What is it like 28 dollars or something?

The housing bubble burst in the US 10 years ago, it never did in Australia. Couple that with rock bottom interest rates that compel everyone with any money to buy property , rather than let it sit in a bank where it will accumulate less interest than it would need to retain purchasing power against inflation, causing a bull market.

We have higher wages, a higher minimum wage and our wages are inflated a lot from the mining sector.

Americans make about 50,000 US dollars and aussies at about 80,000 Aussie dollars a year.

With conversion either way, There isn't too much of a difference AND we pay more in taxes.

Truth is, housing is simply more for us whether we like it or not.

I'm in a position to buy property, but I fear the housing bubble here. I have have no confidence that the housing market will remain as high as it is, particularly in Melbourne and Sydney.

You couple that with our burgeoning welfare bill that continues to grow and our national debt and we will probably face something similar in the future. How long will that be away? Who knows.
