Default What if Michael Jordan never came back in 1995?

Imagine Jordan`s retirement in 1993 was definitive and never came back to play the game of basketball.

How would his legacy be and how would this affect his GOAT status?

Would you think winning 3 rings as the main guy would be enough to place him above the likes of Magic, Bird, Kareem or Russell?

Discuss.

No.

Many would have said the his first three peat was a fluke. But then he came back 2 years later and went on for another legendary three peat. That made him GOAT

Judging by his increased performance in the playoffs, consistent clutchness those first three championships, and the dominance he had statistically before the rings, I would have him above Magic and Bird. But IMO he would have no case against Kareem as the overall best player when considering accolades, statistics, and dominance relative to rest of league.

I think Kareem would be labeled as GOAT on these boards and it would be really hard to argue against that with the numbers out there.

LOL. No sane person would call THREE championships a fluke.

He had already peeked from 88-93

His PER, EFF, +/- and Shot Made/Missed Diferantal would be higher.

Also his raw stats and scoring ppg avg especially would abe around 32 something

MJ was already being called the GOAT by '92 and '93.

He was considered the goat before that 93 retirement, the other three peat was just iceing on the cake.

We would have missed out on the Fade Away version MJ, constantly wondering if he could have adjusted his game beyond being primarily a slasher.

Not to mention 72-10, The Game 1 Shot against Utah in 97, the Flu Game, The Air Jordan 1 tribute game in Madison Square Garden*, the MJ-Kobe duels, The "Shot to Steal to push off Shot" in the 98 Finals, Mariah Carey Rocking those Jersey Dresses in the 2003 All-Star Game Damn, glad he did come back

Then he probably wouldn't have been Goat like he is today.
3 rings, but he didn't play long enough and he won't have these beastly total stats he has now.
But a shortened career MJ could probably still make the top 10 all time rankings.

Then Wilt/Kareem/(gulp)Kobe=GOAT
Lebron Could Enter That List When His Career Ends

He was at his best before he retired, and his best was better than anyone else in history.

Having said that, him coming back after retirement and turning around and 3 peating again... that pretty much removed any possible doubt.

Came in to post this. His second three peat only solidified his spot at the top.

Then I would've never seen him play and would most likely be a proud member of the you-know-who fan club.
