I have felt for a while that Bargnani is more likely than not to leave before too long. If Colangelo goes (as of course he should) then Bargnani will probably be gone very quickly. If Colangelo stays, since his name is mud for the atrocious job he has done in his five years at the team, he will probably feel pressure to do something dramatic to give fans hope that the next few years will be better than the last few, and there is nothing he can do which will make nearly as big a statement that he finally gets it than trading the man with whom he is so closely associated.
Of course, we still need another team to be willing to offer us something other than an even more onerous contract for him.
And add to them young players like Bayless, Weems, James Johnson, Julian Wright, Dorsey, Alabi and the new draft acquisitions by BC ... this will be a nice D-League team...
The only players that project as starters are Ed Davis and maybe Derozan. Guys like Weems, Wright, Dorsey and Alabi will have zero effect on the future of this team. That's why this is called rebuilding.
I'll go Bokes' style...
Please, answer to this, do you think that Ed Davis and Derozan is a good core?
Don't know what exactly that means. I guess it's my style to ask questions? Anyways, my answer to this would be that they could be parts of a good core but they aren't main pieces right now. A top 5 draft pick and hopefully some good trades will help with that.
Edit: see what I did there? I answered it rather than going FC style and not answering, then complaining about it being asked in the first place.
