Default “Larry Bird Quotient”

The Larry Bird Quotient measures a players total contribution.

Add a players points, rebounds, assists, steals and blocks, then subtract missed shots, free throws and turnovers and dividing that figure by games played to yield a Bird Quotient.

using this with the Spurs, Tim Duncan is the MVP of the team.

Duncan’s Bird Quotient yields a value of 19.59.

Guards Manu Ginobili and Tony Parker are 1-2 in scoring but lag behind Duncan in Bird’s measurement of a player’s total contribution. Parker’s is 18.45; Ginobili’s 18.05.

I saw this on a Spurs blog. it doesnt have to do with who is more effiecient like PER, but more along the lines of what a player contributes during his time on the court.

Ive never heard of it, what do you guys think?
