jon snow's looks strangely like heath ledger in that vid, especially when he tilts his chin up a bit

finally caught up with last week and holy shit is right, amazing episode. martin's writing was all over it too, extended scenes and character-revealing dialogue, back and forth between maogor's and the fighting, lots of metaphors and riddles driving all the speech, etc

i... wasn't that impressed with the war scenes. i don't really know why, i can't even say how it could have been improved, it just didn't hit me the way i expected. tho that's probably all it was, high expectations after reading how UBER AMAZING GOAT STATUS it supposedly was. not bad to any extent.

i thought it was odd that stannis was first to climb the ladder and he was still on the castle wall, at least i think, when the tyrells and lannisters arrived. how the fk did he get out? you just saw somebody grabbing him and pulling him back but it didn't make any sense where they were going. maybe i just misread where he was at the time?

i thought he was on top of the mud gate. that scene was pretty stupid, although i do understand why they filmed it like that. no king in his right mind would be at the vanguard. then again, robert was always the first one through the gates as well.

yeah you're right, not the castle walls but just the mud gate to the city. regardless, like you said, it made little sense. ah well, minor complaint.

With the characters being mentioned recently for season 3 the discussions for casting have been pretty active the last few days. Now Mance is one of my favorite characters in the entire series...and I've seen people continously bring up Dominic West for the role.

Thoughts on McNulty as Mance? If this was the case I would probably always see him as McNulty but still I think he's got the look. I think he would play the part very well too. The way he played McNulty, always over-confident, always thinking he's the smartest mother****er in the room, that smugness he can get when something goes his way. Sounds like Mance to me.

Now is it realistic? I dont know. But I think he'd be a great fit. If you don't think so, who do you think should play Mance?

I could see it. The other names I see mentioned alot are Henry Ian Cusick and James Purefoy. I think they would fit well also.

One thing though is that whoever they choose...has to be able to sing...

I have no idea about the character you're supposing McNutty for, but after only knowing Dominic West from The Wire and seeing him be pretty damn awful in just about everything else, I can't see it. McNulty was just in his wheelhouse I guess, he's shit every other time I've seen him.
