In one of the episodes of season 2 Jamie said to the bigass woman that is transporting him that in the whole land there are only 1 or 2 people who could match or beat him in a swordfight, who was he talking about?

Can anyone who has read the books shed some light on this?

I haven't read the books but Loras Tyrell's apparently a helluva swordsman

Haven't read the books but from watching the show it's probably his own father.

He probably meant Selmy and either the Hound or the Mountain.

i really liked this episode. partly because WD was so disappoint, but i liked how Daenyrs is so interesting a storyline to follow now with her dragons growing and her becoming so much more confident, and likeable. also the Jon Snow stuff has finally hit the point where stuff might happen and at least in more direct confrontation with the monsters. i sort of wish it had more fantasy to it tho, like Jon Snow at least having a pimp sword that does something. also like how tyrion is now i'd assume go against his own family considering his sister tried to kill him and his dad humiliating him. before a lot of these storylines were pretty boring but its like we're finally at a point where interesting stuff that a lot of people were probably hoping for might happen.

Good first episode, Jon and Dany's scenes were great and I also loved the Tywin/Tyrion scene. Kudos to Charles Dance he has been doing amazing job of Tywin

I don't remember from the books if that's in there or not. But Barristan is certainly one of them. He's one of the few characters in the books Jamie has genuine respect for, and frankly, other than the wretched Joffrey/Cersei, he's pretty much universally respected throughout the kindom.

There's little chance he's referring to either Clegane. Those guys are Brutes and Jamie is a technician. Those guys were promoted by his father, and butal guys to torment the small folk. They're beneath him in a few ways, he wouldn't choose either of them.

Maybe ... and that's a big maybe, he'd be talking about Loras, who he seems to have almost a begrudging respect for, and who is a technician himself.

His mentor was Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of Morning, and that's probably one of them, although my memory is not clear on weather he's still around.

And Jamie also holds Cat Stark's brother, the Blackfish, in incredibly high regard, and he could very well be another.

The vagueness in the TV show's statement may be because some the characters he's referring to have not been mentioned yet in the show (Oberon Martell would be another, but I doubt Jamie would have a ton of respect for a guy who deals in poison). It keeps it simple for the audience now, and if they care to expand on it, they can flash back to it.

Did not watch last night yet. Will do it when I get home from work.

disappointed in Mance. he was nothing like how i pictured him. i expected him to be more roguish and charming. other then that, every character's casting has been spot on

All the other suggestions are based on speculation, but Barristan Selmy (the old knight that Joffrey dismissed, and who just found Dany) is definitely one of them. In the books, Jamie has a huge respect for him.

Yup. Mance is also a bard who is very charming. I don't see Cirian Hinds singing like Mance does in the books..
