It's meant to be a twist.

They made a big deal about how the Freys were obligated to let the Stark army cross, yet wouldn't unless the Starks met their demands. (ie, they are portrayed as disloyal and exclusively looking out for their own interests)
They kept mentioning pretty much every episode how Robb breaking his vows and marrying that Talisa girl was a big transgression.

If they dropped bigger hints it wouldn't have been a twist anymore.

Simply put the Lannisters know how to play the game. Tywin, Cersei, Tyrion even Jaimie to a certain extent. They know the power the Lannister name holds and people don't fvck with that. Is it better to be feared or respected?

You will understand why Snow is one theory when more of Neds history during the war comes out.

I think its Jon or Dany. Though Stannis would be nice.

Seriously, the Frey's were a bunch of goofy guys who were a product of Rob's awful play of chess. The Stark kids have been nomads for the whole season with the three oldest, and their mom's, looking like horribly incompetent sacrificial lambs and the next two being near superheroes.

Because they are basically good guys their dying stands out more but how about keeping it real with some of the others... and some other basic writing flaws:

How the fluck do the Lannister's deplorable and spoiled ways avoid fatalities in a feudal society? And since when are spoiled people the most socially adept con artist? lol @ samuel stuff i hate it when they don't take the weapon, its just so dumb in every movie or show i watch where they'd rather be bare handed than take the weapon they just killed some guy with or that he dropped. kills me every time i see it happen...i'm like dude

I think at this point people watching the show has to know Jon Snow is somewhat special because he is probably the least important character (at least portrayed) right now in the show and hasn't been killed off yet. A character that has done absolutely nothing has continued on for 3 seasons now. That is a remarkable achievement.

First off, it's definitely not Stannis.

Secondly, I think you're taking an overly optimistic view on these prophecies. Even though I agree Jon is the most likely candidate, I highly doubt things are going to play out like the prophecy with Jon leading humanity to victory and becoming King. That would completely clash with Martin's narrative to this point. I think it is far more likely that the Others breach the wall due to the chaos currently present there and sweep a good way across the continent before humanity makes any substantial resistance. Jon to this point has been far too typical of standard fantasy protagonists, and with his most recent chapter, I think its likely Martin is going to give us a curveball in his progression.

Lady Cat should have killed Freys. Why didnt she? Stupid woman. Grabs his wife yet she knows how dangerous he is/was? Man she is stupid. Kind of happy her character is gone. She was clueless without Ned.

Sucks for Arya always walkin in on her family getting owned. For some reason I see her becoming Joan of Arc. I hope she ends up a killer of some sort and where is that dude who changed faces? He was badass.

Cant wait to see what Jon Snow does. He's a bastard. No family now.

10 episodes are wack tho. Should stretch it to 14.

Showing Walter Frey curse the breaking of traditions and taking a bribe is much better than repeated mentioning by others about it. We didn't get to see the Freys, see how they operate, what their stake in everything was, how they were subject to money overtures. We did know the Freys were into marrying into power but you definitely got the idea most people were like there ain't that much marrying going down.

They looked like a bunch of inbred rouge wildings, not into traditions or baths at all. The bigger twist to me was that these guys had pride... We did see the pride of the other wilding who was heavily into incest, was he a Frey? That would at least be an interesting intertwining of plot/theme with a bit of a flavor of a twist.

To me its a twist if Frey hated Lanisters, pledged to protect Starks and didn't inbreed to crazy proportions. Instead he's just another dirty looking King killer out of nowhere.

Personally, I was more blown away by the very end of SOS than I was the Red Wedding. I kind of figured the Freys wouldn't just let that kind of effrontery slide and they would get their revenge in a big way, maybe not to the extent that it ended up being though. Guys know how to hold a grudge

But the first appearance of ***SPOILER ONLY IF YOU LOOK IT UP*** Lady Stoneheart knocked me on my ass.

I think that image and that quote 'she don't ****... but she *******' would be the most epic way to cap the season.

Is it possible they didn't film Grey Winds epic last stand because of those crazy animal organizations? I don't remember many animal deaths except when Mountain sliced his horse head off...
They didn't show how Ygritte shot that deer in I think 8th episode, how Ned killed Lady, how wildlings killed that old guy's horse, etc...

EDIT - They killed a horse in season 1 in Mirri Maz Durr scene with Drogo and Dany, don't remember any seen animal killing past season 1.

EDIT 2

So was that Roselyn Frey really one of his daughters? Seemed too hot to be in that freak family.

If she was, then Robb really ****ed up badly, the only reason he didn't honor his oath was because of Cat basically telling him all their daughters were ugly as ****. Robb's face at that moment was straight outta Saw. If he knew he coulda had a nice beautiful wife and Frey's support, he may have actually won the war.
