Game of Thrones season three is almost over, but we already have our first hints for season four, courtesy of George R.R. Martin. He named three book characters who we'll meet next year.

Obviously spoilers ahead, if you haven't read A Storm of Swords...

Martin was at ConQuesT in Kansas City this past weekend, and he told the convention-goers that auditions are being held for season four, including at least three new characters:

The Magnar of Thenn. Styr isa major part of Mance Rayder's Wildling army although a lot of his part in the book has already been given to Tormund Giantsbane. In the book, he leads the scouting party that climbs the wall, which Jon Snow and Ygritte are part of. But presumably he'll play some other huge part in the Wildling attack on Castle Black.

Mace Tyrell. The son of Lady Olenna and father of Margaery and Loras we've already heard from Lady Olenna that he's a disappointment. Presumably coming to town for Margaery's wedding.

Oberyn Martell. The first person from Dorne we've really met he comes to King's Landing to take a seat on the Small Council, and winds up playing a huge role in Tyrion's storyline.

None of these inclusions are terribly surprising, although you could have imagined Styr being left out at this point.

Also, someone in the audience asked Martin what Podrick did and at first Martin, who'd just been talking about the Battle of Blackwater, looked confused and said, "He stabbed him with a spear." Then the questioner clarified that he was asking what Podrick did in a more recent episode, to which Martin's response was still: "he stabbed 'em with a spear."

I doubt it...but its possible.

That said...

Anyone worried about story holes without all the starks....trust me....they fill it in.

There are many stories going on at once in the 4th book(which im not sure they even get to next season...there are 400 pages after the RW in the third book)
.

The Dorne story is gonna be great if they nail the actors...which they have always done.

Not so much looking forward to the Greyjoys story. More room to get it wrong. Lot of scenes the TV show doesnt need though so it might not drag on as it does in the books.

But the Starks story wont be missed. Robb/Cat really were kinda boring compared to the huge generation long beefs that come into play soon.

Lot of Littlefinger/Varys shit to come too which im sure will go well on screen.

Dorne is BULLSHIT!

Bookreaders, not to reveal too much, but I read somewhere that in the books Robb wanted Jon Snow to be his successor when he died? I also read somewhere that Jon and Robb were pretty close and the show didn't really stress it.

he wrote a letter that legitimized Jon as a Stark (which would make him the next heir since he was the next oldest). it was never addressed in the show. but yea, in the books, jon and rob are very close.

Not true. No Bolton was ever King in the North. They did rebell against the Starks (and lost)and were generally one of the strongest families in the North, however.

literally my reaction after that episode

I knew this episode was buzzworthy for a reason but holy fvcking shit... that was unreal...

Catelyn Stark was annoying but goddammit I actually liked Robb/Talisa...

Got scared as hell when Arya showed up. If they would've killed her off I would've stopped watching

But seriously...here I am about to post on Dany's supreme badassery in the outlands and then the show pulls this off...

Its about time the House of the Wolf gets its revenge, Starks been getting raped enough already...

It wouldn't make him the next heir because he's a member of the NW though.

They could always give a body to the Nights Watch in exchange for one. They tried it w/ Maester Aemon.. Who know's if Jon Snow would have accepted though.

Robb is older, Ned impregnated Cat on their wedding night before he went to war against the mad king. One of the reasons Cat hates Jon so much is he represents that betrayal to her.

Spoiler in White
Well atleast she believes he does...
