They make 10 episodes for thousand page books. They could make 3 seasons per book if they wanted to.
They can, and they won't. There is a reason that they don't. Sure it could be budget or length of the book, but the main reason is they want to keep the show intense and fast paced. They don't want to put the viewer to sleep.
I dont think thats it because a lot of what they cut is exciting. The fist of the first men battle was a massive swordfight vs zombies. And they have us...hear it...offscreen.
They cut a zombie swordfight to keep things exciting? Nah...
Im sure the money is a massive part of it.
Yeah, they've cut a ton of battles. The battle where Tyrion makes his bones, and kills that horse with the spike on his helmet, is completely passed over by him getting conked in the face right on the way out and blacking out.
It was a nifty little story telling gimmick to get them out of having to stage who knows how many extras and use a ton of CGI to make that battle look true to the books, but it did cut like a hundred pages right out of the book.

The French stretch four shows nice touch around the hoop and excellent promise as a perimeter shooter at 6-foot-11, but I must object with how he has handled his time on the Iron Throne as the head of King's Landing. He is not fit to rule in Westeros and will be in for a rude awakening when Daenerys Targaryen makes her way to King's Landing with her dragons and army of freed slaves. -Nick Prevenas
