how can you say this after admitting you have only seen a few episodes of season one?

the wire is the GOAT tv show

Their is no such thing as GOAT TV show.

It is what you enjoy. What entertains you. Everyone can have a different opinion. Nobody's opinion is wrong on this matter.

Anyway for anyone interested- http://www.forbes.com/sites/allenstj...pranos-finale/

GOT had 6.6 mil viewers, the Sopranos finale had 11.9 million

That prompted HBO to immediately renew GOT for 2 more seasons.

On topic...err sort of... I've seen every episode of both the Wire and the Sopranos and I think both are at the top in terms of dramas all time. I prefer the Sopranos though. Didn't care for Season 2 of the Wire and Season 5 pissed me off. But Season 4 of that show is as good as TV gets. I do think the writing on the Wire tends to get overrated a bit IMO. People mistake quantity as automatically being higher quality sometimes.
I have no issue with people who recognize the greatness of both shows, but just preferring The Sopranos. Like I said, it was awesome.

And, while I'd probably choose The Wire with a gun to my head because I believe its themes encapsulate a lot of what's wrong with this country and I consider it an "important" show in that way, it's not an easy choice and they're so completely different.

My issue is with people saying that The Wire is boring, overrated, etc.

You're talking about the two greatest shows in television history, imo. Breaking Bad is not in the same league and, while I enjoyed that show too, its hype got a little annoying.

Breaking Bad definitely is in the same league. They're all top tier shows along with GoT. I'm one of the few who hasn't seen The Sopranos, so I can't speak on that, though.

But it isnt the wire.

You can relate more to the wire than the sopranos, you will have bias on the issue.

Season three episode four: that blonde dragon chick has been negotiating with that dude for his army for like the last two episodes, all the while he was talking smack in another language to her, and unbeknownst to him she knew what he was saying. She swaps a dragon for his army, takes command of the army, then has her dragon kill him with a look of "f*ck you, I'm the man" in her eyes.

I think my favorite character is probably Tyrone Alistair. Smart, funny, has a light disposition but also has a "shit just got real" gear. If he weren't born a lil' person he'd probably be one of the most powerful people. But I suppose if he weren't born like that he might not have developed the qualities that make me like him in the first place.

Gets no respect for defending the king's city. If he dies I riot.

Tywin is the Swagfather though, guy can break your spirit with one sentence. His scenes with Arya/Tyrion/Jamie were amazing, his delivery and presence on screen is unmatched by any other actor in the show. The way he owned Joffrey was hilarious too.

Tyrion Lannister is a very popular character, one of my favorites too. He is the most similar to his father Tywin in the children and that's what Tywin hates.

Check out this history of house Lannister. It explains a lot behind why the Lannister kids are who they are. Really shows how much shit that Tyrone and Jaimie have to take in despite being generally good guys.
