every team has their weaknesses. No team is perfect. Boozer just needs to play defense and Bogans needs to keep hitting 3s and we'll be fine.

That article is pretty much dead-on. Especially the half-court trap. I'm always a little surprised that we almost never take advantage of these predictable double teams.

We have gotten better, and not every team knows how to trap Rose. I just wish we could get Boozer going, then those double teams will result in open looks for everyone else.

Dead on.

I really think a lot of the pressure Rose is seeing would be taken down a notch if we had a 2 guard who could actually create their own shot.

Agree that this team can win a championship though, and that Boozer and Noah need to get on the same page.

Bulls fans lets wake up and realize the biggest problem right now is actually D ROSE. He is gunning and jacking up shots like he is Iverson. in the play offs he is averaging 22 attempts per game, 7 of them being 3 point shots. Why the hell is he shooting 7, 3 pointers a game? Rose has to A. Stop turning the ball over and B. Stop gunning and look for team mates more. Look at Chris Paul who is getting more out of less and still scoring about as much as Rose. Rose has to learn how to facilitate better and get his teammates into spots that make the others around him successful. I know he is young and learning but if we pump him up when he plays great we have to point out when he is playing shitty as well and right now he is playing shitty. He is the leader and cant shoot 35% from the field and 17% from downtown if the bulls plan on advancing far in the playoffs.

Dissagree about Rose. Sure he's settling for the 3 too much, but if he's open, I'm not against him shooting it. Lots of his 3s have been rushed due to the shot clock, and just needing to get something up.

Boozer is the issue right now. He's known to be a Playoff stud, and is having his worst series ever. The only positive I've seen from his game thus far is his rebounding, which is still a career Playoff low at this point. He's averaging 12 points on 38% shooting. He should be getting 20 points a night shooting 50%+ against these Pacers.

If he's having issues against Tyler Hansbrough, what do you think is going to happen when he's playing against guys like Al Horford and Josh Smith?

I'm on this boat.

When the shots aren't falling and he taking a beating he needs to find other ways to be effective.

It falls on him first and foremost, but the rest of the team as well.

Yeah Boozer needs to play better as well but the team goes as Rose goes. Boozers bad play doesnt excuse Rose bad play. Also, Rose has the balls in his hands all the time Boozer doesnt. Just because you are open doesnt mean just jack up a especially if you arent a 3 point shooter and if you can get your shot off at any time. Spend time running plays and trying to get team mates involved.

pretty good points about Rose. Somebody blamed Boozers subpar offensive games, I agree to a point. Noah had one good shooting game from a lot of closed range put backs.. other than that.
But a lot also hinges on Bogans' lack of guts to take open shots. For the nearly 20 minutes of play, Keith took ONE shot. With him passing up shots and not looking for open spots forced Rose to take more bad low % shots.
Thibs made a great adjustment of putting Bogans on Granger tho, so he can preserve Dengs energy on offense.
Im hoping Thibs would play Korver more to punish the Pacers defense on clogging the lanes on Rose. Kyle is only playing 21 mins/game inspite of him being the most consistent shooter on the team.

I don't think rose is the problem. I think its boozer and thibs. Boozer cuz he's always out of defensive position and thibby cuz he hasn't figured out a way to take pressure off rose. Its even more frustrating cuz rose gets knocked to the floor at least 6 times a game and im not seeing a response from our bigs.

Great points tamaraw. Id have korver playing alot more in order to make them pay for the defensive startegy on rose. Im just not seeing the adjustemnts that a championship coach does from thibbidoeaux. He's honestly frustrating me the most

Thibodeau has been holding out for sure. But as we have seen in a few close games this season, the Bulls have a few tricks up their sleeves. I don't think they want to give examples of those schemes on tape until deeper into the playoffs.

Default Re: The Painful Truths of a Growing Team

Very good article, but it doesn't touch on what imo is the biggest problem with the current Bulls team.

Exactly how big is the Bulls' offensive playbook? It seems like it's frickin tiny. It's no wonder Rose handles the ball so much and has to go one on five. Bulls don't run nearly as many plays as all the elite teams do. Lakers, Spurs, Celtics, Mavs, and even the Miami Heat run a lot of offensive plays. Shit, throw in the Nuggets (stupid players cause mental breakdowns on their offense). Then there's also the Suns. . .not an elite team, but they have a large offensive playbook.

Bulls have almost nothing at their disposal. "Plan B" is "let Rose do it". There's no bread and butter play. Way too much iso ball. I'm trying not to use the word "we" here, btw. But yeah. . .

Thibs is a great defensive coach, but the offensive playbook well has run dry long ago. And there was barely any water in it to begin with.

If the Bulls could run offensive plays like the Mavs, Spurs, Celtics, or Lakers. . .they would be the deadliest team in the NBA even with all those other faults. imo anyway.

I just wanna see more team basketball on the offensive end. It's no wonder Rose jacks up so many shots, and why the Bulls don't do shit different when Watson's on the floor instead of Rose. They don't really know how else to play.
