Default Greg Monroe vs Ed Davis

Both are long left handed rookie power forwards playing for bad teams putting up similar stats.

Monroe 9/8/1/1/1 55% fg in 28 minutes
Ed Davis 8/7/1/1/1 58% fg in 25 minutes

Who do you think will be the better player and what do you think their ceiling/potential is?

Davis seems to be weak but more athletic than Monroe where Monroe is stronger but less athletic.

I'd rather have Munroe.
I was really impressed with him in the second half of the season.

The most important thing though is his size.
He can legitimately play centre.

A Davis/Monroe frontcourt would be a wicked, diverse and difficult combo to guard if they were on the same team. With the athleticism of Davis and the strength of Monroe combined with their soft left handedness and their ability to finish efficiently in the lane.

I think Davis has a higher ceiling mainly because he is a better defender and more athletic. Both players are pretty similar though.

I'd agree with this, but Monroe is such a naturally gifted offensive player, he might turn into something special. He's such a good passer from the post, the Pistons will be able to run plays through him very easily. If he figures out the rest of the low post game and improves defensively, he will be scary.

Davis on the other hand has the upper hand in athleticism and defensively, and also showed a pretty nice touch around the rim.

At this point, I'd call it a toss-up depending on what your team needs are.

At this point Davis's defense gives him the slight edge but I think that Monroe has a much higher offensive potential than Ed davis.

i like Davis' game, but Monroe has a higher ceiling.

GM's a double-double machine. his post game and passing skills seem superior to Davis.

I'd take the inch and 40 lbs of Monroe, who is a C IMO.

^^ I just prefer the C. And I doubt Davis puts on 40 lbs possibly ever. Both solid young big men though.

Half an Inch of standing reach, 20 pounds, and Davis has 5 inches of vertical?

yahoo sports has monroe 40 lbs heavier. You also referenced one stat. Monroe is taller, higher standing reach and has a longer wingspan. This isn't an attack against Davis....but Monroe is simply bigger in most measures and that's why I'd prefer him. Davis is the more athletic of the two easily. I think Davis is more a 4 and Monroe a 5. Plus I think Monroe is a bit younger but I could be wrong.

Those were draft measurements so I would take those. Munroe is younger, but hes not really THAT much longer or bigger than Ed Davis. Take in account of Ed Davis' athletic ability it would be safe to say that Ed Davis makes much more of a imposing presence than Monroe will

That being said I will agree that Monroe is more skilled being able to face up like he can, but if Ed Davis refines his little midrange shot and free throw shooting I'd rather have Ed Davis.

Can I have both please? I liked what I saw from both of them this year. Hopefully they can both develop into solid big men down the line. The NBA is quite lacking in that category.
