Apparently, it won't be Miller. I just hope it's not Tubby Smith.

As a fan of UofArizona, it looked as Coach Sean Miller was a goner; and it was a depressing day that we faced a possibility of having 5 coaches in the last seven years and losing our top 5-7 recruiting class (Tim Floyd style). Maryland seemed like a perfect fit for Sean to leave since it was in the east coast, proximity to recruiting hot beds, great facilities, money, and so on. Analysts at scout said if offered, he's going to take it. It appeared as if Maryland was Miller's dream job which explained why he originally turned Arizona down two years ago. His wife complaining of allergies and wanting to leave the desert in a twitter response. And apparently, there seemed to be conflict between our athletic director and negating on promises to pay bonuses to the coaching staff after finishing in the Elite Eight. He was focused on spending money on building a scoreboard for football. As a basketball school, that was appalling. 85% chance he would take the offer.

The other 15% was using this as leverage for contract renegotiation. Which appeared to be the case. Good way to get the things he wanted (bonuses, pay increases, among other things) as well as show his commitment to lead Arizona the next 3-5 years. NC State came in calling last month and he never publicly met with them and denounce them ASAP. He however listened to Maryland and made the decision as soon as midnight, eastern standard time.

Good thing. We have a lot of momentum with 2012 and 2013 recruiting classes. Hopefully this will show he is committed in Arizona and we won't have to deal with this until 2015 or so when schools like UNC/Duke/Kentucky came out calling.

For Maryland, hopefully they get the right guy who can take advantage of their location, state of the art arena, and so on. Guys like Carmelo Anthony (Syracuse) and Kevin Durant (Texas) would have been locked up by Sean Miller or any capable recruiter at Maryland. From what i heard, Coach Gary Williams didn't recruit the area or create a relationship with the AAU programs and badly miss the opportunity to exploit a recruiting hotbed.

Here in Arizona, he only has UCLA, Washington, Kansas, and Texas to compete for top high school talents on the west coast.

Historically great program, but Tucson is just a dump. One of the more depressing "college towns" I've ever been to. Meanwhile, two hours away is Phoenix and Arizona State. How THAT place doesn't draw big time recruits is beyond me.

Miller is an east coast guy whose wife reportedly hates it in Tucson. Not a bit surprised if he jumps.

Can't blame him. Texas A&M is a nice job but Maryland has more appeal. The fact they have the most fertile recruiting county in the nation in their own backyard is enough to at least get a lot of coaches to think about the job. On top of that, though, they've got decent tradition and good facilities. There's not reason Maryland shouldn't be a consistent ACC powerhouse and have the ability to challenge UNC and Duke on a yearly basis.

We were actually going to get a top notch PG in Jamal Branch and now Turgeon leaves we'll probably lose him. Maybe we can get Buzz Williams from Marquette?

We're going to enter a period of irrelevance/mediocrity for awhile I think. At least we still have football which we'll be dominating at for at least a few years. (We're dominating in 2012 recruiting.)

to be fair anything prior to the recent surge in tamu bball is the standard here. The best period ever for the program was this last 5-6 years. We were able to weather the much uglier billy G. desertion.

meh, having lived and worked in both, Tucson is a much nicer place to live than either Tempe or PHX.
