Default With this one, Pat Riley has surpassed Phil Jackson!

Both as a coach and as a GM/Leader.

Phil Jackson has never won a league title without the player considered most dominant player in the game. Riley just did.

Where was Wade in the MVP voting for the 2006 season, in rank I mean?

I agree that winning a title as a GM/Coach is the better accomplishments.

Phil has nine rings, but Riley has 5 and the ability to win a title as a gm/coach is the equalizer IMO. Probably even puts him over Phil though it is arguable.

What does that have to do with anything? Shaq only won one MVP with the Lakers.

Having said that, I'll give you that Riles won without a consensus best player in the game, which Jackson has not yet done. But, to be honest, big deal. His team, top to bottom, was probably the most talented in the league, and they were one of the main preseason favorites.

NOBODY thought this team would do well. everyone expected them to blow up and Detroit to wreck them

Go back to the preseason. When the Heat aquired all the players they did, they were considered a favorite to win it all. It was only when they began to stink it up in the regular season that the expectations were quickly dropped.

During LA's 3 peat years, Shaq was considered the premiere player of the league just like Jordan was when the Bulls were making their run. Dwyayne Wade was NOT considered the premiere player of the league. This team won barely 52 games but destroyed all comers in the playoffs, and all of a sudden Wade emerges as the superstar of the league!

You look at the career losers and wannabes Riley assembled and coached into a world championship, its amazing work.

this is a fact.

Riley won the title as a gm/coach. can you say that about Phil Jackson?

No he doesn't. Shaq at this point is hardly even in the top 10 most dominating players, let alone 2 or 3. If you watched game 6, it was Wade, Mourning, Posey, Haslem, and to a lesser extent Walker and Shaq that won the finale. Shaq was on the bench in the 4th quarter!

As for Wade being most dominant, where were you when the MVP voting talk for the season was going on? Didn't see too many Wade for MVP signs (from myself included)
