i thinks it's harder with more pressure to win as a coach only, if your the GM you have no excues not suceed, you can't blame anyone but yourself and riley has only done this once... phil has done it nine times to rileys 4, riley inheirated a championship team fresh off a championship in the 80's becuase the coach that had them on track for another championship was injured in a bicycle accident 10 games into the season...

and you are suggesting phil didnt inherit a championship team ? the bulls already had pippen/jordan and the lakers already had kobe/shaq when phil came along, all he had to do was coach the team, riley had to do both assemble the heat and coach the heat after van gundy had a miserable 10-10 record.

reality check, the 80s had at least 4 teams considered all time greats, los angeles, detroit, philadelphia and boston, the 90s only had the bulls and a bunch of wannabes.

the 80s were the most competitive decade of bball and is not debateable, only a jordan groupie such as yourself in a desperate attempt to try to make the bulls look better than superior teams would argue something like that.

no one cares if it was the most "exciting", flair doesnt make something great.

phil did not inheirit championship teams, the lakers had not won a championship with shaq and kobe, nor had the bulls won before phil got there, he was able to take both teams and make them work where others had failed....

riles on the other hand took over a laker team that had won a championship in 1980, in 81 they had a very good season before getting knocked out of the finals, he took over a team that was assembled and battle proven with a championship under it's belt ALREADY and using a system built by coach mckinney.... don't get me wrong i think riles is a great coach, he's just not as good as phil jackson
