Default What's the best movie-sequel you have ever seen?

It should also be better than the first one.

It's hard to find a sequel that exceeds it's prior film(s). If I had to pick any, they would be:

Blade 2 > Blade 1

Rocky 3 > Rocky 2

1.The Empire Strikes Back
2. Aliens

Those were two flicks that outdid the originals

i wholely agree with you but just a bit of trivia:

in 1980, Empire Strikes Back was ver pooooorly rated. critics thought it was deadpanning what was a classic standalone movie but introducing a lot of useless and utterly trivial new details. they thought the I am your father scene to be superfluous and unfitting

funny how 20 years can change all that eh?

that part brings the best drama to the whole 6 flicks... without the father-son drama, star wars wouldnt be as big a deal as it was...

I was young then and I remember star wars flicks came out like every 3 years and that 3 year wait till the retun of the jedi was killin me.. I didnt know if Darth vader was bullsh*ttin luke or what.....

These last 3 flicks dont stand up to the first three at all imo, mainly empire strikes back and the Luke/Vader drama

Isn't The Godfather II the only sequel to ever win a best picture Oscar. I think most people prefer to I too. I still prefer I myself.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the King won for best picture and was the final part of the trilogy. I'd consider that a sequel.

the final one, the return of the sith was quite dramatic and well done, if only by narrative alone.

the first two were simply poorly directed. George Lucas needs to be shot for his lousy directing abilities in the first two.
