Default Gasol to Celtics

My friend relayed this rumor. Pau for:

- Ratliff
- Perkins
- West or Allen
- a #1

I dont buy it but if true it would make the C's contenders.

Starting 5: PP, Pau, Al, Gomes, Bassy

Bench/Reserves: West (or Allen), Wally, GG, Powe, Kandi, Rondo, Ray, Scal.

I'd do that do in a heartbeat if the pick was lotto protected.

I think they would probably want Delonte instead of Tony simply because they have no point guard, and young swingmen are easy to acquire. As long as Wally or Gerald are on the court to hit the occasional 3 for us I think we could give up Delonte without it hurting us too much.

Giving up Perkins is tough because I honestly believe he could be a top shot blocker numbers wise if he was healthy and playing about 30mpg. But, Gasol's offense is obviously 100 times better than Perk, and his style of play where he's more of a high post guy would work great with Big Al down on the low block. I'm starting to think Perk will crowd the lane for Al when he comes back from his injury.

This trade would have 3 advantages over the Iverson rumors we have been hearing:

1.) Al or Gerald not involved

2.) You're getting a post player

3.) Giving up youth is easier to swallaw because Gasol is young himself (26)

And I guess another good thing is that Pau comes without the baggage of being known as a coach killer.

I would do that trade. I think Pau would help the C's more than AI would.

I'd give up Allen before West. Allen is a good defensive player but I believe West has more to contribute to this team.

I agree that West is more valuable as he can play some pg in a pinch. In fact right now he's basically the backup at that position.

Whoa well I wont get all giggely but this is so much better then getting AI (no disrespect). Pau is a great post player, offensive and defensive and if we could get him by giving up that its a steal in my mind. How do you defend against West/Bassy, Allen/Pierce/Gerald, Pierce/Wally, Al/Gomes and Pau on the floor at the same time ? Maybe not impossible but good shooters all around and good offensive inside players who demands doubble coverage.. #17 would seem alot more close

However, I dont think there will be a trade at all, neither for Iverson or Gasol. Ti

If that deal was offered I'd do it with no lottery protection, because who needs it when you've got Pierce and Gasol? I don't think this trade is even possible, though. I could be wrong but I recall a rule that makes it illegal to trade your first round pick two seasons in a row. If that's the case then this deal wouldn't be possible.

I was thinking lotto protection just in case Pierce and/or Gasol goes down with a serious injury.

I completely forgot about the trading draft picks in consecutive years rule, but I suppose we could trade a future first or even Minny's.

I would do this, but I still wouldn't do it if it gave up Gerald or Al, because I think both of them will be better than Pau.

Nobody's getting Pau Gasol...he's not a player you put on the trading block.

but Gasol wants championship... if Griz continue to lose... it IS gonna happen... in NBA fastbreak there's the BUY SELL INVEST segment... i say Celtics is the team to invest... 2nd youngest team and all that... the CAN win games... especially with Al Jefferson playing this way...

Why? I was saying Gasol has more to offer to this young team than Iverson would. I wasn't saying who was the better player. Gasol would fit in a lot better.

You gotta be joking!!! Pau is their franchise player. You would give up your
franchise player for a has been and 2 mediocre players and a nonlottery draft pick? No way. Only way I see the Celts getting Gasol is they give up Jefferson or Gomes, Telfair, Perkins and a #1. The Griz would throw in someone like Swift or Dantay Jones.
