Ballup's Air Up There Challenges Blake Griffin To A Dunk Contest!
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- On the heels of Ball Up’s first annual “Air Up There” Slam Dunk Contest, Ball Up All-Stars lead dunker Taurian Fontenette, known to fans worldwide as Air Up There, challenges 2011 NBA Slam Dunk winner Blake Griffin to a one-on-one slam dunk contest. The popular streetballer has been stunning audiences around the world for several years with his arsenal of gravity defying dunks, including a 360 reverse dunk which landed him the 2010 NBA Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown. While Griffin’s dunk over a sedan landed him the 2011 slam dunk title, Air Up There is the only player known to ever perform a 720 degree dunk (two full turns in the air). The widely-documented feat is listed on several sports and fan sites as one of the greatest dunks of all times - garnering Air Up There a spot among top NBA and streetball stars.
“If Griffin is up to the challenge, fans will be the true winners as this will undoubtedly be a great showdown between two talented athletes,” notes Ball Up CEO, Demetrius Spencer.
Ball Up’s first Annual “Air Up There” Slam Dunk Contest featured streetball players from around the country with the legendary Julius “Dr. J” Erving as a guest judge, along with former NBA player Cedric Ceballos, actor Anthony Anderson and the dunk master himself, Air Up There. The contest will air as part of Ball Up’s 2011 Season, currently airing on Fox Sports Net.
