. . .
without reading 5 pages of bullsh!t on this topic. . .
jr smith getting 10 is bullsh!t. dood got hacked on his head and reacted. nothing wrong with that. dood had a Napolean go after him after he reacted and again reacted. nonsense.
has the nba gotten soft? i remember bird and erving with hands at each others throats. superstars used to get into it all the time. basketball is a competitive, emotional game. while j. o'neal's comments re: basketball fights vs. hockey/baseball/football fights were essentially ignorant, there was something legit there. . .basketball used to police itself; these days you foul somebody hard and stern makes it a fu(king federal case. . .and the other player has to respond with a vengeance. . .
the other side of the coin is how restrained the knicks fans were in comparison to pistons fans with the artest deal.
i'm a SE michigan guy all the way, but if that exact same sh!t would have happened in the palace. . .fans would've been involved again. . .
and that is why stern has no choice but to suspend one of his best and brightest for 15 fu(king games... . . .
part of what makes the nba great is proximity between game and crowd. any on-court fight that spills into the stands in detroit or several other crowds means years of legal action and a horrible stain on the blackened rep of the association.
all that said, watching 'melo throw a cheap fu(king haymaker and proceed to run 4.5 40 in reverse was pathetic. 'melo needs to live and play ball like he has a pair.
