Kobe just called into Stephen A Smith's radio show, said he's still waitin on that trade to Chicago. Doesn't understand what's takin so long. Says he never actually backed off it. Hopes somethin gets done this offseason.
Lakers should've just hired Don Nelson if they wanted a culture change.
Say what you want about how it ended in Golden State after multiple trades, but the Lakers need to run and gun it because they just dont have the personnel to win playing a slow defense oriented game. Multiple teams exposed that.
Nelson at least would have Fisher on the bench, and the Lakers could actually bring someone in to utilize PG play.

The Lakers don't have the personnel to run and gun either.
It sort of requires running (as in athletes) and gunning (as in shooters). It doesnt just happen because a coach comes in and says its the new system.
kobe cant run any more and fisher, artest, odom, gasol, and bynum cant run OR shoot.
The Lakers are about to decline. Key players are getting older and their financial situation is very inflexible. And they dont have any young prospects as a result of finishing so high in the regular season the last half decade.
The Lakers are an organization that rebounds pretty quickly, but they are definitely about to go through a down period, at least for them.
I think its a great fit. He's a very good defensive coach and the Lakers have so much offensive firepower that there is no way they won't be able to get something going on that end.
Defense wins anyway. Mike Brown just struggled in Cleveland with lineup rotations and adjustments. Maybe he has learned a few things in his time off.

Don Nelson shouldn't even be allowed to coach an NBA team anymore.

I agree. If Brown can make the Lakers into an elite defensive team then they will go back to the finals next season. They have so much offensive firepower, their problem is their lackluster perimeter d and if he can fix that then they will be a powerhouse again.
So we go from talks of hiring Rick Adelman to...Mike Brown? Kobe and Andrew have been coached by Phil "11 rings" Jackson all their lives...these guys are not going to respect Mike Brown at all. Nor will the rest of the team, they will tune him out. What is Dr. Buss doing? I hope he has big plans...there has to be a logical reason behind this.
