From what I've gathered based on local reports, the Lakers were adamant about a ~$5M salary cap after paying Phil so much over the years. Adelman wanted more, and it was a matter of finding whoever met that price. They also felt that they lost this year because of their defense, and that their offensive talent will make up for the inevitable dropoff from ditching the triangle. I really wanted Adelman because he's a good defensive coach, a veteran, and his corner offense isn't a big change from the triangle.. but oh well.

Hopefully they push to add some perimeter athleticism/shooting to ease the transition into whatever the new offense is.

Finding a way to get Ebanks in the mix would be a good start.
