This is the same player who Jim Buss would not deal for Jason Kidd, Kevin Garnett, Carmelo Anthony, & now Dwight Howard.
It is obvious that as long as Jim Buss in charge he just will not deal Bynum, as he is still "waiting" for Bynum to emerge as a 20/10 big man.
As several other people have pointed out. You cant do a double Sign & Trade which is what it'd require to move Bynum to Orlando for Howard next summer. The only way to do it is to get it done this summer or during next season.
Nobody but an idiot would trade Bynum. Who the hell would trade a 23 year old center who is already more then capable of averaging 20 points a game, plays great defense and is their best rebounder? There are only a couple of guys I'd trade him for.
only player i'd trade him for is Dwight, but from what i read Buss wouldn't even do that trade.
edit: also carmelo isn't dwight howard, or even chris paul in terms of value, but that's another discussion
Disagree.
You can build a team around a scorer like Carmelo and go just as far as a team built around Dwight or Paul. Just depends on the personnel you put around them.
Carmelo on the Lakers would be even more effective than he was with Denver this season or on the Knicks. Having Kobe on the court to draw attention and be the focal point of opponents gameplanning will just make Melo even more dangerous.
I've watched the guy play enough and know if he had another scorer on the court to attract attention away from him, he'd use it to his advantage.
I don't get why people think Orlando wants Bynum anyways
Might as well say Portland is getting them for Oden. There will be much better deals out there for Howard.

while you might be able to go just as far, it would be far more difficult to do so. size and defense are still the best predictors of winning in the postseason, not perimeter scoring. add to that the fact that i think paul is a better player than carmelo, and i think it's fair to say those players might make jim deviate more in his thinking than would carmelo

didn't Dwight mention he wanted to play for the Lakers?, and he'd basically be in a Denver-Melo's situation where he can dictate where he wants to play, if the Magic want value for him. Correct me if i'm wrong.
