Amnesty Rule
http://basketball.about.com/od/nba-v...-Contracts.htm
The NBA's latest CBA proposal reportedly includes an "amnesty clause" - a one-time opportunity for teams to remove their worst contracts from the books.
If this amnesty rule is implemented, should the Raps waive a player? And if so, who should they waive?

Re: Amnesty Rule
Somehow I very much doubt that happening, but if it were I would say the choice would/should be between Barbosa/Kleiza/Amir.

Re: Amnesty Rule
I don't think we used it the last time, did we?
If we draft Walker or Knight I could be inclined to say bye bye to Calderon and give the PG keys to said draft pick and Bayless...

Doesnt Barbosa become an RFA next season ?
No use to cut someone that is going to be a free body move at mid season.
I also do not see moving Amir at all.
My guess would be Keliza followed by Jose.

Re: Amnesty Rule
Only reason I wouldn't want to drop Calderon is because I feel as though he has to be worth something in terms of trade value.

That's true and I see what you're saying. I only put him in because he's making the most other than Barnagni and I just wouldn't see the Raps dropping him.
In reality though I just see the Raps not using the Amnesty clause at all. I see this as a tool used more for the Arenas' and and Rashard Lewis' type contracts around the league...I still can't believe Rashard Lewis is in the top 5 in salary...

Uh no, Calderon, easy. Kleiza maybe I guess, but Amir is a young athletic big that they like and Barbosa is expiring

I think Calderon has a bit of value, but I'd drop Kleiza in a second.

Re: Amnesty Rule
I read somewhere that the amnesty may only apply to teams over the cap, in which case we are SOL.
If we do get to drop someone I would say Kleiza based on length of contract and his injury.
Jose's contract isn't too much longer and he would make a good mentor to kemba. He is also tradeable. Same with Bargs.

The last time this rule was around was just to save in the tax. The contract was still on the books.

the players will not agree to that, there has to be a more stringent set of conditions for it to be acceptable
