Mayweather just announced that he will chose his opponent by next month. Why next month? Well, we still got some guys around his division fighting up until June and they will be available afterwards.

Lamont Peterson, Lucas Matthysse and Devon Alexander all fight next Saturday. Kell Brook is injured but would be ready by September.

Marcos Maidana, Josesito Lopez, Erislandy Lara, Alfredo Angulo,
Paulie Malignaggi and Adrien Broner all fight in June.

Victor Ortiz needs an opponent in September, when he returns to the ring ...
Danny Garcia, Amir Khan and Austin Trout fought last month. Oh and Canelo has a free date for September also.

The people who said that were probably staff from HBO

Sources close to the information have informed us that last Saturday's "MAY DAY: Mayweather vs. Guerrero" pay-per-view event has indeed exceeded 1 million buys. The news comes on the heels of rumors being spread by select individuals in the media, who alleged that the numbers "look bad" and fell short of the 1 million mark. Official numbers have yet to be released, but we're told that a preliminary announcement could come as early as today, though the count is still rising.

but then again fighthype isnt the most credible source so we never know until we get the real numbers

more and more fight fans use and encourage others to use streams when it comes to those handpicked mismatches! Eventually they have to make the real fights happen!

I hope Broner sells 8 ppv's

Guerrero can't defend himself. He has no convincing win at 147. That would be just sad man. Broner is a champion and should behave like one.

Guerrero can take a punch...Floyd (who has good power contrary to what some people say) was hitting him with clean power shots over and over again and Guerrero wasn't wobbled...Broner doesn't have much defense either..so it could be a war.

As far as Broner-Malignaggi...Broner is just going to walk through Paulie's punches like they are nothing and eventually finish the job. I don't think he can do that with Guerrero..but who knows.

Floyd's PPV numbers will probably be down for the Guerrero fight for several reasons...but mostly because the promotion sucked and Floyd didn't promote the fight like he usually does because of all the guaranteed money in the showtime contract.

But nobody is saying that the ppv numbers are bad...still probably close to one million..its just that showtime is taking a loss because of their huge investment.

But if if Floyd fights Canelo next, that probably does close to 2 million buys, and the concerns will be over.

Actually Guerrero looked like he was hurt late in the 8th or 9th round i think. When Floyd kept on landing his straight right hand to the body and to the head. I seriously thought he was about to drop him if he kept the pressure on a lil bit longer.

And Broner does have defense. Its just that he stays in the pocket alot and doesnt use his feet that much. But hes still not a sitting duck or easy target

I really think he would have gotten a TKO in the next couple of rounds if he didn't hurt his hand and kept doing that.

LOL I think 800,000 buys would be his ceiling, and that's considered pretty good. For comparison, Pac-Bradley did 850-900,000 buys. And that's with the second biggest name in boxing. Ain't that easy to sell PPVs

Apparently something freaky happened at the Burns/Gonzalez fights. I'll have to watch for myself later today when they air it here in America. Seems Jose won damn near every round, but wither got injured or gassed out and didn't leave his stool ...

I think Broner is in for a rude awakening against Malignaggi. Broner does not have great mobility which is one of Malignaggi's best assets. Malignaggi is also quick of hand. I think people are forgetting how much Gavin Rees of all people was landing on him, then you have to factor in the fact that Paulie is bigger and more experienced.

Broner has his hands full, and I think Malignaggi is going to box circles around him. There's no way he stops Malignaggi. When you think about it, who has Broner fought?
