Damn kinda feel bad for Showtime. That crappy HBO card featuring Dawson got about 340k+ more viewers than the stellar SHO card featuring Maidana-Lopez.

Not only that but Forbes reported that Showtime lost $12M from that last Maywether PPV. They did so much promotion for that fight that I doubt they expected it to be a flop. Make sense why we are seeing the Canelo fight so soon as opposed to next Cinco de Mayo or after Canelo has one or two more fights to build more buzz.

They're going to have to think long and hard about putting Floyd up against somebody like Devon Alexander. I know many fans like to say Floyd doesn't need anybody to sell a fight but Showtime sure does need Canelo for Floyd. And perhaps a Pacman fight before the contract ends just so they can break even or possibly profit. Not even Floyd's fault but there just isn't many big money fights out there besides Canelo or Manny.

Floyd will get paid regardless, but will be interesting to see what Showtime does from here on out because they're in the hole right now.

I think the strong undercard for his next fight, plus Canelo being a Mexican, and Khan, who he will probably fight later, being a Brit, should be enough until they can figure out what to do for his final couple fights. Hopefully.

Yeah for sure after Froch II, but I think Hopkins is going to go after that fight. It looks like Hopkins-Murat might be cancelled due to visa issues. Hopkins said he wants to fight Froch too, so Ward and Hopkins can switch opponents after.

Dawson and Gamboa are more well known names than Maidana and Lara.

And Showtime will be back next week with Paulie/Broner. Look for that to get huge ratings.

Also, loos like the Hopkins fight is off (at least with Marut.) HE might pick someone else, he has about a month.

At least it forces them to provide us competitive and interesting fights as opposed to dragging them out for years and years. Finally fans can be entertained by some good matchups on a more consistent basis, at least for now anyway.

I couldn't give two shits about Showtime losing millions.

Showtime losing millions eats up into their boxing budget, which isn't a big budget to begin with. So you should care If you want to keep seeing competitive fights consistently. Good matchups on a consistent basis takes lots of money. It effects their whole boxing program.

We want Showtime to do good because more money means more goes into their boxing budget. SHO can't keeps putting up these types of fights recently if they start losing money. Definitely not this frequent. Being secluded to Showtime only already means less fight dates for Golden Boy fighters.

Yup....Adrian Broner is supposed to be an up and coming superstar in boxing. He has a fight next week, and showtime wasn't even able to do a special to promote that fight. I bet that if showtime wasn't losing money there would be some kind of face off type show for that fight (which there should be).

Levgen Golovin TKO2 Riddick Bowe... Thailand hosted a very sad event for boxing fans, as a middle-aged, overweight, washed-up and possibly brain-damaged Riddick Bowe was allowed to compete in a muy thai event. (It sounds cruel to say Bowe is brain damaged, but that was his own legal defense in order to avoid jail time a few years ago). Predictably, Bowe lost badly. The 45-year-old former world heavyweight champion was beaten via second-round technical knockout by Levgen Golovin of Russia. Thankfully, Bowe was done in by kicks to the shin rather than punches to the head. There were five reported knockdowns and Bowe ended the bout grabbing his shins in pain. Bowe's championship reign was from 1992-1993, eons ago in boxing years. From 1997-2008, Bowe had just three bouts, and from 2008 until today, he had none at all. It is doubtful he could even get a license to box here in America, although commissions can be unbelivably lax in licensing decisions. Bowe reportedly was paid 150,000 for today's debacle. source: associated press

Holmes by UD.

It would have been interesting to see Holmes fight in the earlier part of the 70s. Doubt he would have been undefeated as long as he actually did during his career
