When (not if) he beats Garcia, Matthyse should get a crack at Floyd. Nobody will outbox Floyd, so the only way he can lose is by knockout. Obviously, the chances are extremely slim, but Matthyse just needs one good shot.

Matthysse is a monster. A frightening monster. They need to keep him away from Garcia.

Matthysse is a surprisingly good all around, patient boxer. I noticed that in his beatings of Alexander and Judah. Guy is not just some crude brawler. His insane power forces his all around skill to be overlooked. But he's plain outboxed guys known for their skills, speed, etc.

I definitely agree with you. I just mean he's not going to outbox Floyd, but when it comes to a puncher's chance, he has more of a chance than probably anyone else at 140 or 147 because of his scary power, which he can set up with his underrated boxing.

I don't know how his power would translate moving up a division, but Lucas gives Floyd his best challenge of the past 5 years or so outside of Cotto. He knows (just like he proved tonight again) how to cut off the ring. He doesn't just go head hunting, swinging wildly. He picks his spots and throws with conviction. Floyd UD, but he gets busted up worse than he did against Miguel. He won't be able to just back pedal all night, that shit doesn't fly with Lucas.

Canelo is the big money fight, so obviously Golden Boy/Show want that next. But if it was Matthysse, the hardcore boxing fans would be on board. I know I'd actually seriously consider paying for that. No way I was parting with a cent for the Guerrero sparring match.

But there's plenty of options for Lucas outside of Floyd. Plenty of paper champions he can decapitate to keep himself busy- Garcia, Alexander rematch, Khan, and so on.

After seeing Richard Scharfer mic jack Jim Gray and scream "WE HAVE A NEW MANNY PACQUIAO!!!" I think they are going to put the hype machine, behind The Machine.

No need to rush Lucas into a fight with Floyd. Let him clean up 140 if he can, build some buzz and a following and then you give him the big fight.

Khan would get decapitated if he fought Matthysse .

Yeah it would fly with Lucas... lets not get carried away. Alexander and Judah were caught off guard but they weren't pressured into anything and they aren't as focused as Mayweather. And Mayweather is going to beat Lucas to the punch. Matt is not fast, and keeps his hands low by habit. He also lunges in. Foot movement is also very bad when he feels pressure. Matt also has real trouble with a south paw lead. He's not experienced enough now to really pose a threat.

What a showing by Matthysse. I didn't expect a KO in the 3rd round. Only thing that worries me about Lucas is he goes for the knockout damn near every shot. Like a young Tyson.

Also, I see Floyd picking Alexander for the September showdown.

Also, Mosley may be back in the 147 mix, he just won his comeback match.
