What a fight. Berto gonna come out in 2nd place again in a possible 2nd FOTY.
Berto disappoints me greatly. He has superstar potential. He has the KO power and the lightning hand speed.
However it looks like he's never developed his game whatsoever. Still has no concept of defense (no head movement, no footwork), and the jab apparently doesn't exist in his vocabulary.
I think the fact that his flaws haven't been rectified somewhat fall on his trainer whom I think is shitty.
Anyway what a fight. Both guys fighting blind (Berto looks like Brock from Pokemon now...lol)
He changed his defense, not sure why. Ref was terrible though ... one of the worse I seen in a while.
Yeah he sucked, he was pretty much like f*ck it and let it go in the 2nd half. Guerrero blatantly held Berto's head and pounded him with his other hand on the first knockdown.
Most of the fight Guerrero was pushing him on the ropes and holding with one hand and punching with the other. He was fighting dirty like Bernard Hopkins. The same stuff he was calling in the first 8 rounds, he basically let go in the last few. Than he hit like like 4 times after the bell rang, lol
That ref should be banned from any major boxing matches.

I agree but if Berto had any worthwhile defensive capability, he'd try to at least sidestep when he was being pushed back.
Use the jab to keep Guerrero at bay, staying on the outside etc.
He would try to punch out of the clinch instead of holding on as well and waiting for the ref to break it up.
Berto seems more than comfortable slugging and dirty boxing on the inside. He invites that sort of fight by allowing it to occur.
The guy is very talented but his shortcoming's ultimately fall on his paper chin, and his lack of defense/ring IQ.
So yea the ref was horrible, and Guerrero fought a pretty dirty fight, but Berto didnt do himself any favors...
No way this old ass ref should be in there with possibly the most athletic guy in 147 and one of the busiest fighters in Guerrero. He coudlnt even break them up after that final bell in the 12th.
Berto went in there too cold it seemed. Got caught while using that philly shell defense (why Berto why? ) with an overhand left and he didnt recover until the middle rouinds.
Major props to Guerrero. Fought the smartest fight possible against this guy. Dont exchange in the middle of the ring with distance, and if he did get hit, he made sure it was in the shortest range possible where he knew he can take those shots(Berto is not heavy handed, just lightning fast and very accurate with his right.). Guerrero was suppose to be the smaller guy, but he dictated the pace and bullied the f*ck out of Berto which was very surprising.

Really? I felt Berto was doing a lot of the holding..
I'm also surprised how the ghost, who was the smaller fighter, was able to bully and bulldoze Berto the whole fight. He made him his bitch. Inactivity since his last fight really hurt Berto here.

I'm surprised he went into a phone booth fight with Berto. But he was able to take Bertos power shots very well. I wouldn't say it was the smartest way to fight him, but definitely the most ballsy way.
Guerrero is definitely a very skilled fighter (although we didn't see too much of that tonight.) And he's got an amazing chin. But what I don't get is how you can come up from lightweight to welterweight and be able to bully guys like Berto around without some help. You've basically got to assume that everybody at the top level in boxing is taking something until it's proved otherwise. Other than Donaire, who is the only top fighter to agree to year-round random testing I wouldn't put any money on any of these guys being clean.
Guerrero is 29 and all of a sudden he can jump two weight classes and dominate big welters. I aint buying it.
Agreed on the ref's performance though. I'm just wondering what the **** was more important on his mind than refereeing this fight. He was totally spaced out during much of the cling, grabbing and rabbit punching
