Default Donnie Walsh out as Knicks team president. Will just be consultant for 2011-12

Donnie Walsh is way overrated, he has made tons of mistakes and has failed on all his promises.

1. Hired Dantoni

2. Didnt trade Nate Robinson+ Jeffries to Sac for Eton Thomas when he had the chance in 09, then had to package first round picks to get of jeffries a year later.

3. Drafted Jordan Hill instead of Jennings or Lawson, didnt keep his mouth quiet about Curry

4. Traded David Lee for bunch of players that dont even play

5. Blind Man love for Dantoni it makes me sick

it's a great day to be a knicks fan

He may have made mistakes -as all GMs do and he couldn't get LeBron (seems like it was out of reach anyway) but he was a calm and intelligent force in a typically mad-cap and unintelligent organization.

Chad Ford really nailed it---he wasn't just a good evaluator and negotiator, he was a culture builder.

BC should hire Mike D'Antoni for Toronto.

Perfect fit - D'Antoni with the right parts, can put winning teams on the floor. Toronto doesn't expect championships, so just winning 45-50 games will be enough for the Raptors.

Donnie Walsh's best quality as GM was to be able to convince Dolan, the media, and the NY populace that his best course of action would be to lose for 2 years and then swing for the fences in free agency in 2010.

After that he's been mediocre. Last summer he did draft Fields but look at what happened in free agency. First off he didn't land Bron, and other than getting Amare (obviously a great signing) the other $20 mil in cap space on Raymond Felton, Anthony Randolph, Ronny Turiaf and Kelenna Azubuike. Of those 4 players only Felton turned out to be an impact player. Walsh also seemed hesitant to trade for Melo even though his team was only 28-26 before the deal, because he thought the Knicks were giving up too much.

Yes Walsh will be missed, but his legacy in NY is actually better than his accomplishments.

It was the only way we were ever going to get rid of D'Antoni, so it's actually not as bad as some are saying.
Isiah will not be back either. They'll give the job to Houston before they do that.
